Hi All

Thought I'd share what the Pentax Q on a 1500mm telescope can do.

Here is what the telescope is looking at taken with the 8.5mm Pentax Q lens.

The red rectangle indicates (approximately) the field of view through the scope.

The adapter is just a C mount adapter with a C to 11/4 Inch tube which drops into the eyepiece mount on the telescope, cheap and simple.

There are two Pentax zooms for the Q. The 5-15mm is already available.

The new 15-45mm zoom should be here soon.

If you want to use DSLR lenses, try eBay, as there are all sorts of adapters for using all sorts of lenses. You will end up with manual focus, but there could be some interesting possibilities.

Hope that helps!
Nobody in the UK has any 5 - 15mm zooms for sale, at least I can't find one.

I'm planning on getting the 110 adapter and seeing how Auto110 lense perform but of course they don't have irises
I haven't seen a Pentax Q to 110 adapter, made one for my m4/3 cameras which I use a lot, I use slide in 'Westinghouse' apertures an idea borrowed from the old mahogany and brass cameras from the turn of the last century.

Who lists the Q to 110 adapter?

Hi Karl I take loads of HDR shot its a technique I like alot. A few pointers.

1) Use Av aperture priority you don't want the camera changing DOF on you by altering the aperture, just the shutter speed.

2) For the same reason after allowing the camera to focus I turn off Auto Focus.

3) Most of mine are hand held if its a bright day for interiors I use a tripod.

4) If using a tripod use a cable release to avoid any shake, and turn off Image Stabilization.

5) Use Photomatix Pro it can deal with slight misalignments quite well and ghosting when things move in your pictures.

6) 3 frames 2 stops apart is my norm, but its best to take spot meter readings and work out how many stops you need and set.

Here are a few examples, some of these are quite old,I really should update this.

To be honest BF no it doesn't make me feel too much better, I will have to see how fervently they promote Pentax a opposed to any other manufacturers products they sell.

The Focus on Image exhibition later this month has no Pentax stand. Canon, Nikon, Olympus, Sigma, Tamron, Sony are all there. One of the major shows in the UK and Pentax can't be bothered to be represented. With sales apathy like that they deserve to loose their market share.

My answer to this question a few years ago was to buy a Samsung laser printer for all my text documents, much faster than inkjet, the prints are waterproof (well the paper isn't, but the text is). Dirt cheap to run I just refill the cartridge with toner (thats why I bought a Samsung) and I'm good for another 2500 A4 sides.

I also use it to make printed circuit boards.

My photos are printed on an Epson R1800, pretty old now but still going strong.

I would have thought that a difference of 38% in angle of view, over a third more, significant, but that's just me.

I fitted a card reader into the now defunct floppy drive slot on my PC yonks ago. Its a USB 2, but won't take the newer SDHC cards, so all my cards are 2Gb San Disk Extreme 3. No doubt newer ones will have the SDHC ability, but I don't feel the need - yet.

Go for it Rataegeoff, the beauty of digital is you can try things with little cost, one of the beauties of the Pentax system and the massive range of quality lenses available (fairly) cheaply.
