Didn't have the opportunity to approach this competition theme with any great vigour & have used one of the suggested possibilities, so my apologies to Mhuni for a lack of originality this time around. I took the opportunity to capture this on a drunken weekend spent in a teepee in mid Wales.

Donald, try photosig.com & search for images by lens (there's a few categories for that lens due to photosig using manual entry for lens descriptions - which can be annoying). There's also a dedicated Flickr group HERE this should help you with "real world" images.

HaHa, beat you to it Ralph !

I think I've identified the subspecies also. It's a Green Bug

I think the technical term is "Bug"

I'll bet, after sunset the true glory of the scene was revealed.
It did get a fair bit more colourful 10 mins after this shot (at which point I was back in the car park) I did want to return to the shore but my wife had other ideas. It was a little hazy so as the sun hit the horizon, it fizzled out.

The large black rock being very central is what is putting me off the most.

Don't forget that the 10-17 fisheye has a greater field of view than a rectilinear (non - fisheye) lens at the same focal length so a Sigma 10-20 @ 10mm would be different to the above example.

Good suggestions all.

Martin, I see what you've done with the composition but I am loathed to lose the reflection of the sun, even if it is a litlle clipped I still like it.

Malcolm, I find the panoramic interesting but would lose alot of pixels & I didn't think of a pebbles only composition, both of these would be better with a re-shoot & certainly something to consider.

And as you are not shy of extreme pics
HOW DARE YOU !
Only kidding, I'm not kicking off another forum argument It seems you have come to know me during my short time here.
I prefer the colouring of yours but the compositional trait that bugs me is still there (I will reveal it when suggestions dry up)
I've been guilty of going OTT with my landscapes & am trying to hold back & not over-process. It's funny that on this occasion both Martin & yourself have boosted the colours & contrast.
