Some amazing shots here. And I thought I was just about over my LBA

My faves so far is RR's castle shot. Amazing sky in that one, how did you get it that colour? Can you use a polariser on one of these lenses?

Nathan's Time Warner shot just about induced vertigo for me! Especially as you can only see the top bit at first, then you scroll down and whoooooaoaaaaaaaaaaaa!
No filters I'm afraid, the blues were given a darker hue when converting with adobe camera raw, althought the same could be achieved after conversion. The 10-17mm is a pretty contrasty lens anyway I've found, but a little curves adjustment never goes amiss.

Here's another from the battlements; it was a spectacular view & a spectacular sky.

At the risk of looking like a mutual appreciation society, I'm loving yours too Darkmunk.

If you're going to shoot fisheye, you have to embrace the distortion & get real close to a smaller subject, or right into your surroundings if taking a wider view.

I did use the 10-17 alot, but I'm wondering now whether to get a 180 degree fisheye or an ultra wide rectilinear with close focus. I'll still be able to play with perspective distortion but won't take in so wide a view... hmmmm

C'mon..more people. Let's push Mhuni & Womble over the fishy edge & maybe we can get George to fall off his chair.

I wonder if you could gain the others permission to display some low res examples so you can show us the differences. That'd be the best illustration.

How did you view the results John ? Printed or on a monitor ?

You may have missed the fact that I sold all my Pentax gear as I wanted (not needed before a whole new war starts) full frame.

I'm still hanging around like a stale odour though !

Oh sht! All these great images are awakening a yearning within me for the little fishy!

What makes it even more tempting is that it's one of the few lenses whose price didn't jump absurdly recently. Nice small size, too - though the tiny built in hood makes the front element look rather vulnerable.

Some lovely shots Mark. Out of interest - I assume you de-fished the pic of the lighthouse, or is this what the 17mm end looks like? By the way, I would be very interested in an update about how complementary you see the 12-24 & 10-17 after you've used them for a while alongside one another. Though from many (not all) shots above, fishy clearly has different uses to the 12-24.

Oh dear - I thought I'd sated my LBA last Xmas for at least a couple of years!
It did jump up in price by a hell of a margin, but it seems SRS must have old stock & are good enough to sell it on at the original price, so if you're thinking about it, I'd get one now, they are around 60% more in most other places.

Forget focal length with the fisheye, iirc 17mm on the fisheye gave a field of view that was almost exactly 12mm on the 12-24mm so they complemented each other very well.

You do have to be careful with the front element as you need to get very close to fill the frame with a subject & if you are closing in whilst looking through the viewfinder then you may well go too far. It'll focus extremely close to the front element so that doesn't stop you.

I think it was probably the sharpest lens I owned too (in the centre portion of course) -

Very nice shots Mark.

This really isn't helping my LBA, I was on the look out for a 14mm prime as an extreme wide on FF, but I may now be tempted to go fishing again !

Roy, you got a stellar copy

How about posting a few shots ?

I've thought about buying a Tokina version & getting the hood shaved off to work on full frame as HERE but I'm not sure how much of an issue flare & contrast loss would become.

I was very impressed with mine too, although it may aswell have been a 10mm prime as I never bother zooming in.

Why not share a few shots ?
