The LCD screen is one of the dearest parts of your camera, I also have an S50, and like my K20D have a protective foil screen fitted to both cameras.
My best advice is to get a price for replacement LCD Screen from Pentax, It could be an uneconomical repair, and if so you will probably replace your camera, but beware,a lot of the new cameras do not have a viewfinder, and will not take the CR-V3 battery(see my post),
Check before you buy!

I have an Optio S50,which takes a CR-3V battery and have had some pleasant photos with it.
Whist in Singapore, my wife and I bought my daughter an E10, and my friend bought an E10 for himself.
Unlike the Optio S50, the E10 has no View finder, because the monitor is larger than the S50, but the most annoying feature, is the fact that the battery compartment, of the E10 has an extra raised piece in the moulding which prevents a CR-V3 battery being used.
Why on earth did Pentax do this?
If this extra piece of useless plastic was not present the CR-3V could be used with the E10!
Could the designers not think of battery usage and compatibility, when they put a design together?

I know that they are in Kent, but many shops will only get the K20D in to special order.
It is a great camera shop, and they are extremely helpful.
Might well be your best bet.

I've only found extended warranty options on the Pentax US site, and I'm told by Pentax UK that it does not apply to cameras purchased in the UK!
As my MZ7 let me down in Australia, I am left wondering about the life span of my new camera!

Now that I have a K20D, my old flash equipment is redundant.(AF280T and the hotshoe grip & bracket and connecting cable.
My quandry is what to purchase to replash my flash equipment.

Hi I started off with the Program A, and then aquired a Super A, both great cameras, but as with all things, progress determines when to replace. My next camera was an MZ7, but if you look at my first post it let me down in Australia and now has a dead shutter, so I'm now learning with a K20D.

Just registered, been a pentax user member for many years. Sadly my MZ-7 has packed up so i'm looking for a DSLR. Ironiocally my ME-Super is still in working order!! My MZ-7 Shutter has stopped working, not been knocked or anything just stopped one day in the lake district. Since then i've been using an optio s60, but do I miss my SLR.
What a surprise, my MZ7 packed up in Australia, It would appear to be a common fault with this camera, although no one will officially admit to this!
Like you I was looking for a Digital SLR, and guess what I now have a K20D.
The MZ7 is an uneconomical repair mate, as Pentax will charge more than the camera is worth!
Look on the bright side I travelled all the way to Australia and ULURU, hoping for some fine shots of the changing colour/light effects, only to find like you my trusty MZ7 had packed it in!
