Hi and welcome to the best and friendliest Pentax forum on the web.

I’ve had the K100d for the last 2 years, and have enjoyed every minute of it. You will be amazed at the image quality compared to a compact.

The K100d Super has shake dust control at start-up and able to use SDM lenses.

Due to the smaller pixel count I would stay away from the HC cards, a 2gig card gives 186 RAW and a massive 689 jpegs, that’s a lot to lose should something go wrong.

I have used high power Ni-Mh for one day photo sessions but keep Panasonic Infinium for everyday usage as they always seem to be ready to go. A good battery charger is also important.

Other things to think about are how you are going to carry the camera around and software.

Hope this helps
Ron

The RSPB own brand binoculars are very good, and the Viking ones they carry are pretty good value. You don't seem to be able to order online at the moment but there's an RSPB shop in Conwy if that's near you?
I bought my wife a pair of the Viking Navigator 8x42 (£119 from a local photographic shop), most people that we have loaned them to have stated how clear they are. They do have a small amount of purple fringing on high contrast areas but generally we have found them very usable.

Key point is try before you buy, we tried several pairs of similar binoculars before we chose these on comfort grounds.

Then found this review at Timesonline link for confimation, although advice at shop made up for missing the price point.

Hope this helps

Congratulations (or Commiserations should it be) to Iceblinker, like the new topic, hoping for some good weather to get some photos.

Lily as usual, good and useful critique, had great fun generating my resultant image using Elements, something I would not have tried without the competition. THANKS!

Well done to all, an amazing competition.

John has carried out the difficult task of judging and critique giving superb and decisive advice. Well done John.

Congratulations to Lilly for an outstanding image, a well deserved 1st.

I’d like to thank you all for these weekly competitions. They have given me a reason to go out with my camera (not that I really need one) .
They are changing the way I am viewing the everyday things around me.
These competitions are a superb learning resource on the way to compose and critique images.

Many thanks and I am looking forward to the next challenge.
