I’m in for the long haul, just dug up a flower bed and am planting salads and veg., and tomatoes in what is laughingly called the greenhouse. I reckon it will be quicker than waiting for Sainsbury’s to restock. All very photogenic of course!

Walking around the East End wearing a Rolex? Nothing compared to walking through the village with toilet rolls!

Ditto, but whilst we have technologically savvy members nothing can replicate the traditional decant to the pub afterwards.

Our local butcher is flat out supplying meat that the supermarkets have sold out of, same at the bakery. Could this lead to a revival in small shops?

There was, after an hour of musak and a cheery voice saying how busy they were!

Well here’s a twist, our local bakery was about to close after 100 years but with the supermarket shelves empty they are baking bread like mad to keep up with renewed demand. They are also offering a doorstep drop-off for telephone orders, a real community effort.

The first victim in our household is a new sofa from Laura Ashley which is unlikely now to be delivered. I hope there is someone at Barclaycard to pick up the phone.

The problem here is that over 70s are more vulnerable so are more likely to need hospital beds and respirators, both of which are in short supply. Also to reduce the exposure of medical staff. The strategy is to flatten out the peak demand to try and manage this, although the more I think about it I cannot see a four month incarceration working. The Government is assuming that friends and neighbours will run around making sure essential items like medication are delivered but many will not and it isn’t realistic over that length of time.

I am dreading it, I have just been given the list of things that need doing around the house and I can’t think of a good excuse now. Just been to buy some tomato, veg and salad seeds but Gill has drawn the line at chickens. We are told not to go for walks, well sod that I don’t see why I can’t go into the fields nearby if I avoid contact which wouldn’t be difficult.
