Given the recent f1.4 50mm and the forthcoming f1.4 85mm do you think buying a FA Limited lens is still worthwhile? The reviews put emphasis on the quality of construction, the enjoyment in using them and their unique characteristics but for sharpness are unlikely to compete. Views anyone?

According to the Daily Express newspapers (and I suppose by extension magazines and books) are sterile due to the printing ink and paper processing, so cannot transmit viruses. But they would say that wouldn’t they?

I like the idea of a book swop box I seem to recall something of a national movement for this, there is one in the local railway station for instance.

As last winter approached I found a hedgehog in the garden. Thinking he was looking for somewhere to hibernate I hastily made a den of leaves but he just ignored it and shuffled off.

Hardgravity, how envious I am you have moorland nearby with curlews!

It seems like forever we have been waiting for this, I have held off buying other lenses knowing it is in the pipeline. Next problem will be do I buy at launch or wait for a price drop the following year?

Well it’s better than the US initiative to persuade garment manufacturers to make masks, it turns out they are using standard fabrics which are useless for blocking viruses so hospitals won’t use them. The gullible public will though thinking they are safe.

I hadn't seen the 3x figure Robert. The grandson's situation sounds like real hard yards.
It was on one of the PM’s briefings.

I'm puzzled. The last three years in the UK has seen an average of 17,000 deaths from influenza. Since October, 20,000 have died in the USA from flu complications. WHO puts figures out of 500,000 deaths globally due to flu.

I can find no reports of such drastic actions such as we are seeing now being implemented to curb the death rates.

I/we are isolating and are following the guidelines and advice.

After this event, who will actually be buying luxury goods? Most retail sectors will disappear. Most jobs will be gone. Debt will hit levels never imagined.
Although puzzled, am I completely wrong on this one?
The predicted best outcome as far as I can tell is 3x that death rate, but could be higher if precautions aren’t followed. When things return to normal the vacuum left by closed companies and manufacturers will be filled by new ventures and survivors expanding.

My son works for EWM which is shutting down tomorrow, today an old lady came in for a refund wearing a mask and gloves, coughing. She was bored staying at home apparently. That is why the mortality rate will be higher than best outcome, most people are stupid and selfish.

Grandson still stuck in Barbados waiting for a flight home, has moved in with a very attractive medical consultant. Poor sod.

We have a running bet in the family to find something they don't stock! No-one's won yet. If you want a screw you don't have to buy fifty, just show them what you want and it's "how many?"

Yesterday all pubs, restaurants etc here were shut down and last night everything was quiet. Same this morning, early spring sunshine and flowers budding in the garden, and apart from the birds and insects there is complete silence. Bliss! A glimpse of what the world was like before the internal combustion engine and just maybe how it could be again.

As always the local shops are where you find stuff, the hardware store has plenty of seeds for sale as well as plant feeds and fertilisers.
