[quote:3496ace15f="cabstar"]That's not exactly true. If you where to take a photograph of the gerkhin as an example and the start selling mugs with that image on you would have infringed the architects copyright in that building.

Copyright of the image would be vested in the photographer not the architect. If this comes about then we will be hounded by companies scouring the internet to hunt down infringements and offering legal representation like the ambulance-chasers after every minor collision, so of course the question is where is the pressure for this coming from? Any bets on copyright lawyers looking greedily at how successful PPI claim reps have been?

I don't do Facebook or Twitter; am on LInkedIn but fed up with constantly being asked to join with people who see me as a sales lead. My son is an avid FB user and if one of the crowd doesn't get many 'likes' from an entry they get all arsy! And that's the insidious part, not getting many 'likes' implies a negative response rather than just no comment.

I think on reflection I would plump for the K-3II; not for the astrotracer or GPS but for the improved SR and the possibilities offered by the pixel-shift. It has come out really well in a comparison review of this feature offering better resolution than other higher megapixel and full frame cameras including the Nikon 810, the only camera to trump it being the Pantax 645Z! Interestingly the other camera with this feature is an Olympus but that just shifts half a pixel at a time so needs eight exposures against the Pentax's four with double the memory and processing time. Of course this feature only applies to static scenes using a tripod whereas the others don't have that limitation, but when you consider you can achieve that sort of resolution at the price offered it is very impressive. The lack of built-in flash is a disappointment - however I would get the little AF201 FG flash as a substitute with a bit more flexibility and as a trigger flash for about £130.00. Or do I wait to see what else is coming?

I keep seeing these references to architects and sculptors in regard to copyright issues with regard to photographs, and would like to make something clear. At the moment there would only be a copyright breach if you were to copy a building or sculpture by physically constructing a replica or something demonstrably taken from that source; taking photos has never been an issue and there are no conceivable circumstances where copyright law would apply. Why? because intellectual property resides in the object created, not necessarily a picture of it unless the object itself happens to be a painting or photo. Painter's websites make clear that if you copy a painting from a photo then that is a copyright breach if the painting is to be exhibited or entered into a competition, so if you find someone has used one of your photos in a painting then you can take the appropriate action - usually a polite letter suffices.

Obviously dreamt it Hardly anybody buys Sony FF even in Japan where mirrorless is quite popular.

The only sales are to a few Pentax defectors.

Should have been the Sony A6000 outsells ALL Sony FF

There isn't ONE SONY FF in the current weekly TOP 80 in Japan. Pentax are selling quite well with a few in the Top 20 although the prices are very low.

Nice to see my K50 is the best-selling Pentax in Japan! Well deserved, it's a cracker.

Are you sure this wasn't an April 1st prank? If not then it is totally unworkable and who is going to bring an action for breach? Realistically are copyright owners going to spend time scanning all media - what of videos? At what stage does a subject become relevant - a hazy image on the far horizon, or a city panorama with numerous structures for instance. As an architect I would be delighted if copyright payments started dropping though the letterbox but it ain't ever going to happen. Best to ignore and carry on as before.

Are these gripes coming from anyone who has actually ordered one? Or who realistically is desperate to buy one now?

I wish you'd stop posting images like these!

I'm still coming to terms with my "correct" decision to not go to 645 digital

p.s. Superb images by the way
I have high hopes for the forthcoming FF

I have just been experimenting with a new 100mm macro lens and found (fairly obviously you might think) that sharpness and depth of field benefit hugely from a wireless flash. This set-up is ok for a studio type set-up but a bit cumbersome for outside. Whilst the Pentax ring flash would be ideal I don't know yet whether I would use it enough to justify; however there are on Amazon some really cheap budget options which could be worth experimenting with - names like Neewer and Polaroid plus some other Chinese imports. Some of these are just an led so not a flash but does anyone have any experience of these and any recommendations?

You're not intended to put lens caps on a dedicated hood Algi, I'm not sure why you would want to.

Some people store hoods reversed on a lens, but as I've said before I'm not a big fan of this approach. It makes the lens diameter much larger when putting the camera in a case and tempts us to use the lens as is with hood reversed, which isn't doing anything to reduce flare.
When reversed these lens hoods clip onto the lens making storage and handling easy and take less space than storing them separately. I have never been tempted to keep them on reversed they are so easy to twist off and drop in the bag or a pocket.
