Putting my K24 f/2.8 up for sale as i'm lusting after a DA15 . The glass is spotless, no marks or scratches, snappy aperture and absolutely no oil showing, very light dust which is expected with age as I don't think many were stored in airtight cabinets and lastly the body has no marks, dents or any sign of being dropped or drop kicked anywhere. The filter threads are perfect and I have been using a Hoya Pro ND filter on it with no problems. It still has its Japanese Quality sticker. Comes with both caps and the original case which is usable (sometimes the glue turns to powder in these which gets everywhere, complete PITA). Postage will be AnPost Registered, Tracked and Insured.

Have a Nokia N900 which cost me €300 around a year ago as an upgrade. This is on a monthly contract of €60 which gives me a 12GB data plan. I tend to go over my allowance of 300 texts / minutes a fair bit. It is an integral part of my life though, it handles my skyping, social networks, email, mobile surfing, music, streaming (its has a built in fm transmitter which allows me to tune the car radio into the phone), wifi hotspot for my laptop and very occasionally as a remote for my K-5

I suggest the new DA35 f/2.4 & a 2nd hand K55 f/1.8. These will give you a wonderful introduction to the world of Pentax primes and as an added bonus a really good portrait lens in the case of the 55. You will also discover a whole new world image wise once you go wider than f/2.8

The metering has completely changed from the K20D to K-5 and I still don't know if its for the best. The K20D will always if left to its own devices underexpose wheras the K-5 will almost like a petulant child blow a highlight somewhere just to make sure you're paying attention
The K-5 has 77 segments, the 16 segment thing came up in the AP sensor test I think.

Thanks guys for the comments. Appreciated.
@Gareth, I will give it another go . I do have a lighter version but for me the darker deeper richer colouring won out.

This lens is growing on me, it has charactor which is a virtue the majority of new lenses seem to lack

No myth, rparmer, by proper macro lenses I would assume Algi means as opposed to all the zooms marked macro that are not macro lenses at all.

Proper macro lenses are made for a purpose that demands they are the best of their range. High resolution, flat field and very even standards across the frame. Add that most have reduced apertures and lower than usual numbers of elements to achieve this and this also leads to lower flare and higher contrast.
The exception that makes your general rule is the FA*200 Macro, it has 12 elements verses 9 of the std FA*200.
I think Robin is correct though, the main distingushing factor of a 'Macro' lens is actually the magnification, there are standard lenses that have as good as if not better numbers for resolution, contrast and flare control.
I have a question though, what if some manufacturer made a fixed aperture lens, say f/16 and developed and refined only for that aperture, would it easier for them to design in world beating sharpness, contrast and flare control?
