I dont want to get into any kind of slanging match here.

Im heavily invested in Pentax having been using their equipment since the K100d.

I am just pointing out that the lenses which Pentax are releasing are overpriced. The 2 mentioned above with prices are copies of Tamron lenses at double the price. The Tamron offerings have USM motors, weather sealing and VC, They are not the budget offerings they once were.

I know pentax already have lenses which were designed for full frame but im not interested in manual focus and old school screw drive any more. I want up to date fast and quiet lenses which take advantage of the full resolution and technology in the camera.

There's plenty of full frame Pentax glass around. There's no obligation to buy the new lenses. Any APS-C lens you have will work just fine as if on an APS-C body (there's no need even to set anything either, the camera will do that for you,) Even older lenses from the car boot or charity shop will work as intended and some are indeed excellent. Pick up an old Pentax K mount film SLR somewhere for a few quid and its lens should be just fine for the K-1 (if the Sony A7 users haven't beaten you to it!) At worst, you'll have to set it yourself and press the green button in the case of K & M series lenses. A lenses only need manual focussing. Really, what's the problem?
At least Pentax have offered some new lenses for those that wish to have them, presumably those without any compatible lenses already or wish to upgrade.
Any other manufacturer would have brought out a new mount for the K-1 to make all the old glass incompatible and force one to buy the new. Not Pentax. Go for a new N..n and expensive glass if you wish, but sounds a daft idea to me when N..n users are coming the other way. Perhaps they'll be some cheap N..n second hand deals around!.
Amazing how people complained there wasn't an upgrade path for Pentax users and now that there is find some other reason to complain!! Some folks are never happy.
I think you need to reread my post as you have not understood what I wrote clearly.

I'm sticking with a K-5...... FF offers no advantage for birders.
Unless you like buying 600mm + lenses.

Does a Nikon D7200 and Tamron 150-600 not temp you a little? Is does me

Id really like to buy the new K1 but why do the new Pentax lenses cost soo much?

I mean the new Pentax 15-30 and 24-70 are copies of the Tamron lenses and cost nearly twice as much each.

Thats a big turn off and is surely going to push people to just stay away from Pentax or even move away from them.

Pentax 15-30 £1499, Tamron 15-30 £799
Pentax 24-70 £1149, Tamron 24-70 £679

Then theres the Pentax 70-200 at £1849. Thats more than Canons very highly thought of 70-200 IS 2 at £1499. Its also again double the cost of the new Tamron 70-200 at £929.

What are they thinking? Theres nothing special about them so why such a price hike?

Im currently thinking of moving to Nikon simply because of the availability of the above lenses for the Nikon and the fact that the cost of the new Pentax lenses are silly.

Im a bit late to the party but thought id throw my two peneth worth in.

I bought a Q to use when I really didnt want to take the K3 out with a bunch of lenses. I liked the fact it shot raw so i could still process the pics. I purchased mine second hand with the 5-15. Its a lovely camera that shoots some really nice images. They surprise me sometimes. I also really wanted to try it with the adapter and *300.

What i found a pain though was that with the 5-15 it becomes too big to slip in a pocket. The temptation of the MX1 with the bigger sensor (same as qs1), tilty screen and better lens was too much though so i purchased one of them second hand to try. Its images are indeed better but its a much larger camera than the Q.

So im almost back full circle and when i dont want to take the k3 and a bunch of lenses why not just take it with the 18-135.

I completely agree about not not being able to try the camera properly in the shop which is why i asked for peoples opinions if they had experience of other systems.

Another example of what i think isnt very good is i tried a simple tracking test the other day. Wife walking towards me with pram at a slow speed. Im using the k3 in continuous auto focus via the af button, all auto points, camera is set to max focus priority in the settings and it still cant keep focus as she walks towards me. This was using the 50-135 in good daylight.

Now i dont use my camera for these kind on shots (im so used to using spot focus and just reframing the shot) so it doesnt bother me that much but when im trying to shoot birds and im missing good shots it makes me wonder what the competition is capable off.
