I'm selling one in as new condition.
There's a test set in my portfolio of the little cemetery building on a drab day over xmas.
They were really taken to show the differences between the 7 lenses.
If size is important and you're looking for a interchangeable lens camera with great image properties and interesting presets it's definately better than the Q 10 I used to have as sensor is bigger with same pixel count ergo better in lower light.
I just don't use it preferring the K3 & KS2 and the many lens option I have in the K series.
There's also a great pic from the Q7 in the images area of the moon someone took with a * k lens...impressive.
I'm sure you won't regret it if it's what you're looking for...impressive just put on my final reduction on my qs1 and all the 7 lenses most of which are basically new.
Check it out.
Cheers

Hi, I've got the Q7 which has the same sensor as the Q-S1 (and the MX-1 I believe) .
I used to have the Q but moved to the Q7 when one came up at a good price as the images (sensor) is a lot more forgiving in post processing.
As well as the moon picture I posted recently using the Pentax Q to K adapter I've also posted some other random shots in another thread here link
From a practical viewpoint, it is difficult to use in bright sunshine as the rear screen is hard to see, as would be the same with most systems without a viewfinder. Its main advantage is the size of it, and it isn't as off putting as a DSLR pointing at someone.
I guess if you have large hands the size may be more of a problem but its fine for me.
I tend to shoot in manual mode with auto ISO, very similar to TaV on the Pentax DSLRs other than there is no exposure compensation so if need be I may change metering mode or switch to Av or Tv depending on priority of the shot.
I have 2 lenses that I use, the 01 prime which is excellent and the 06 Zoom which is also excellent for its size and my preferred lens of the 2. The lenses do feel a little plastic but the quality of the output from these two is very good.
Being used to pentax menus it is very easy to use, Battery life is not great hence I tend to carry a couple of spares with me. I do like to look at the pictures I've just taken which doesn't help the batteries.
I confess to not using it as much as I should but then I normally have a DSLR with me so it gets occasional outings rather than my go to camera.
Here's one I pushed a bit in lightroom link
Hope this helps.
Regards
George

I had one briefly; it's a fantastic camera, IQ wise. The only issue with it is ergonomics. Grip is a bit shallow, buttons not the most comfy to press (on the big wheel). One other issue I found was poor fps rate but that seems standard in the price bracket.... If you are happy to deal with the above than you wont be disappointed. Anexapmle here - https://www.pentaxuser.com/photo/user-35140/tower-bridge-in-blue----89897; yes it's blue, but color is about the only pp it had...no sharpening/contrast adjustment on that particular photograph.
I also used it for work - real estate on the run - so basically in and out a property in 10 mins with just a camera +mounted flash combo - example here - http://www.horizonq8.com/property/dasman-lovely-furnished-two-bedroom-apartment-...
It is an amazingly light camera. It's well worth dealing with the not so great grip in the long run, considering the price.

I have done lots of shooting with the Q-S1 and my EPZ pages have quite a few examples. I've also done a few blogs using the camera. here's the wildlife one: https://www.ephotozine.com/user/johnriley1uk-22471/blog/the-new-pentax-q-s1-and-...

Thanks - The interior photos look great and are nice and sharp. The link for Tower Bridge seems to be dead though. Have ordered the Q-S1 today so looking forward to trialling it over the next few days.

Im a bit late to the party but thought id throw my two peneth worth in.
I bought a Q to use when I really didnt want to take the K3 out with a bunch of lenses. I liked the fact it shot raw so i could still process the pics. I purchased mine second hand with the 5-15. Its a lovely camera that shoots some really nice images. They surprise me sometimes. I also really wanted to try it with the adapter and *300.
What i found a pain though was that with the 5-15 it becomes too big to slip in a pocket. The temptation of the MX1 with the bigger sensor (same as qs1), tilty screen and better lens was too much though so i purchased one of them second hand to try. Its images are indeed better but its a much larger camera than the Q.
So im almost back full circle and when i dont want to take the k3 and a bunch of lenses why not just take it with the 18-135.

Don't forget the Q7 and Q-S1 use the bigger sensor, like the MX-1. Image quality is then about the same.

lack of activity surely is a sad indictment of Pentax mirrorless...

I have just joined the group and posted a photo today from yet another recent trip to Venice. I did not take so many photos this time as I was showing some first timers around my favourite parts of Venice and the lagoon.
I own the Q-S1, the 01, 02 and 06 lenses (looking to add the 08 sometime). I restricted myself to the 01 this time. Now I am more used to the camera, I am more than happy with it, despite the lack of viewfinder. The in-camera pop-up flash sold it to me. It was not over the lens (which does annoy me) and had a kind of crude 50s/60s sci-fi robot look to it. I did not buy it for technical reasons but for fun. It is handy enough to carry on holiday and makes a pleasant change from lugging around something heavier. One also gets curious looks generally and some admiring looks from other Pentax Users.

Welcome to the forum. The Q-S1 and its siblings are pretty handy travel companions in this day and age where airline weight limits have to be considered on trips abroad.

I'd really appreciate any genuine feedback and links to sample shots from real users. I'm not seeking a justification to buy, simply an honest description.
Thanks
