I once saw them described as "little jewels" - which seems very appropriate

Mine are almost 50 years old, but still the focus is buttery smooth...

Here's my collection of Super-Multi-Coated Takumars for my Spotmatic SPII (and date from around 1971).

In my opinion, the Super-Multi-Coated Takumars are the best takumars to get as they have the best coatings and most up-to-date optical formulae

Left to right they are:

* 28mm f/3.5
* 85mm f/1.8
* 135mm f/3.5
* 35mm f/2
* 50mm f/1.4
* 35mm f/3.5

As the weather was pretty dull over the Xmas holiday, I took the opportunity to shoot some indoor pictures of my favourite Pentax gear instead

From the top-left:

1/ The "Asahi Pentax" - the original Pentax with 55mm f2.2 Takumar [1957].

2/ Spotmatic SPII with Super-Multi-Coated 50mm f1.4 Takumar [1971].

3/ MX with M 40mm f2.8 - the original "pancake" lens [1978].

4/ The modern K-1 DSLR with film-era 31mm & 77mm FA Limited lenses [2017].

In my opinion it's worth seeking out the Super-Multi-Coated (SMC) Taks, as the multicoating makes a real visible difference (which is why it was such a breakthrough at the time).

They also had the most up-to-date optical designs

Manfrotto head sold to Frogherder.

Anyone interested in the beautiful gitzo head before I move it to eBay over the weekend?

Thanks,
