QuestionableCarrot
Two years on and I'm still unsettled!

I wasnt sure back then whether to go for the Sigma 150 500 or the star glass from Pentax. There are days as some of you know that use the siggy when the lens shines - good natural sunlight and comfortable shutter speeds handheld at F8. BUT there are days when you miss everything because the damn think is so sllllllllooooooo
Anyone that has a DA* 300 - can they please send me a RAW or JPEG file straight out of the camera to me so I can see what the detail is like cropped?
I am getting frustrated with the shots I am missing and may have to horror upon horrors swap systems.

If anyone of you are willing to do so ID MUCH APPRECIATE IT - send me a PM if you can shed some light on this or SEND ME A RAW ORIGINAL FILE>

THANKS
QC

About three months ago I noticed one morning when I turned the camera on and went into AV that my apertures had changed slightly on my 150 500.

Originally it used to be: 6.3, 7.1 8, 9 10

Now its: 6.3, 6.7 8, 9.5

Any ideas what it might be?

I have used the lens every single day (with the exception of Xmas holidays) so its gets a lot of use.
Perhaps dirt on the cameras sensor? Ive no other way of checking it on another body.

Thanks David for the compliment and thanks Alan for the da300 info. you are spot on about birds in flight. The set up is pretty poor at this
i am going to have to have a long think

Might be tempted to trade the 150 500 for a DA* 300

Would cropping be just as good?

Blythman?

id like to think I'm getting the best out of my kx. photos on my Flickr will show that to be the case. People with better gear are amazed at the output. auto focus is an issue for birds in flight but sometimes it comes off. If i was to buy the da300 would cropping still yield good results? can someone with the lens comment on that?

What do you think of the K30 DAVE?

Im not bothered really about cameras - its the lenses that bug me. If the 300 worked great with a teleconverter id stay...no brainer.
But Im getting the impression its bothersome and thats no good out in the field.
The amount of shots I have missed with the Siggy 150 500 hunting back and forth has sent me in a rage on too many ocassions this year.

I nearly bought a K-5 this evening but apart from less noise at higher ISO's its not really worth it is it???

PLEASE take a look at the Treecreeper (first image) on my flickstream this evening. This was taken today in crappy poor light with my K-x. Its a great performer - this was taken at 1600 ISO - can it really get any better?

I guess you have to dance with the girl you bring to the dance.

I cant afford to change and it will kill me but going for a D7000 and 300mm F4 tele combo is looking more realistic

wow
I am amazed. always thought it wasn't possible. can you guys show me a link for the converter and how i get it to work. Are you saying auto focus is possible but slow comparable to Siggy 500mm?
