Good shot and nice lighting. It has a three dimensional affect; the crisp cone appears to be leaping out of the picture!

Nice subject and great title. I can see that you have focussed on the lower third fungi just left of centre, that is in crisp focus but for me the rest of the city dwellings are disturbingly out of focus. Use of a smaller aperture such as f/22 would give greater depth of field but will need a longer exposure time which will necessitate rock steady camera support with such a long focal length le ...

This is one of the 'Boletus' family. It has tubes beneath the cap for release of it's spores, unlike most other fungi which have gills for spore distribution.

At the risk of upsetting you and others, I don't like it! Too harsh, over bright highlight effect, loss of detail in the face, hands trousers, ground, and leaves; it looks bleached out. Assuming that 'PP' is an abbreviation for Photo-shop software, you have purchased a very expensive camera and lens that designers and manufacturers have put a lot of effort and life into producing for you to obt ...

It is also sometimes known as the 'Lawyer's Wig', obviously due to it' appearance but it's botanical name is 'Coprinus comatus'.

Well caught, I have experienced great difficulty trying to capture these creatures; they move so fast! A very good photograph. How did you use the built-in flash? with my K20D I had to make a bracket to attach to the hot shoe and tilt the built-in flash down slightly.

I agree with DrOrloff; it is the Shaggy Ink Cap which like ground containing rubbish. As the spores ripen the gills liquefy and drip off the ink like fluid containing and dispersing the spores. Good specimen and nice colours but I would have preferred you not to have cropped away the background so much.

A fine specimen, nicely framed, good focus and good colour capture. Even better viewed large. I believe this to be the Amanita Muscaria (the Fly-Argaric) used in the past for production of fly killers.

Sorry about the puns, I expected other members to 'dredge' up more from the bottom of 'Davey Jones' Locker'. Yes I am now really scraping, or 'rum'agiong at the bottom of the barrel, so perhaps I had better 'scuttle' off!
On a serious note: your Lego bricks were not liking the heat because they are made from a 'thermoplastic'; you can change the form or shape of thermoplastics by the applica ...
