Anyone thinking of buying a K5 should hang on a bit, there may be some reasonably priced re-furbished ones on the market in a few months
Your probably right and at a fraction of the price and probably a better camera at least they will have been checked out before dispatch.Quote:

Cant see that happening, if the cameras were supplied "faulty" to start with, I for one would certainly insist on a replacement, especially as Pentax are aware of the problem.I would hope Pentax will sanction the replacement of these cameras from Chris, and not insist on them being returned for "repair!".....

I have reported the issue to Chris. Clearly it seems widespread and my guess from reading all the problems is there must have been something wrong on the production line. And even worse, quality control hasn't picked it up. Pentax will have to sort this out, it will damage them if they don't. It seems to me this warrants a product recall. This is my third successive faulty Pentax.
Gwyn, yours is badly affected. I wouldn't even consider working around the fault. I appreciate it's a pain to send back a camera - I've already done it six times.
Do you think they will replace the camera ?. I once sent a K100 D away for repair and the cost to repair was more than it cost to replace considering the man hours spent on the repair and price of parts. They sent me a new camera in the end this is awful news for Pentax after so much positive feed back on the camera.I have reported the issue to Chris. I'm not sure what to do - I don't shoot plain walls very often, I don't shoot at F22 very often. I could clone it out. But - why should I? I can't bear the thought of sending it back and losing it for months but it seems to be a manufacturing error which Pentax should correct.
What do you suggest? What are you going to do?
Hi Gwyn I dont have the camera but after paying that sort of price I would not hesitate to send it back have you a back up.I have an identical blob to Dr Orloff.

You would certainly get noticed with that at the air show next year.

Just looked at the prices for prime wide lenses and the cost is way to much at this point in time for me any how. I have some old M lenses a 135,50.35 and a 28 but would like another two wider than 28 to finish my collection any thoughts guys. I have a Sigma 10/20 which works well but I think Im right in saying the benifit from a prime in regards to the IQ would prove the purchases well worth while.
