Just my personal opinion of course, but if you had aimed for something inbetween those two examples you'd have an image which was striking yet didn't have the crass HDR effect.

What I'm trying to say is that you can boost the shadows and tame the highlights without the HDR acid trip
I realy like this HDR photo I have played around with HDR with little sucsess but if I had produced an image like this I would be very happy with the result. I came across this video on the net hope you find it useful.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v3CPavb2NWs

My freind has recently purchaced a K 100 D from from a forum member his main use for the camera will probably shooting portraits. I have given him a smc 1.7 50 mm lens however what would you consider for one starting out on digital photography. Im told the Tamron 90mm 2.8 is a good lens has any one further suggestions.

My K10D is still used in rotation with my K5 - it's odd but I often prefer the output of the K10 but of course the K5 also has many advantages so I tend to try to choose when to use the k10 a bit more carefully

The K10 is certainly better in hand than the K5 but that is only my preference
My Kr is also better for high iso settings.

I just love the feel of it in the hand and the build quality its a solid well made bit of kit. I just also some how prefer the photos I get from the camera hard to put a finger on that realy may be its down to the different sensor.

I traded my K10 against the Kr 2 years ago and have regreted it so recently I managed to pick another one up from the forum and gave it a whirl today.
