Like most people I do like a bargin and tend to do a bit digging before I make any purchase be it a camera, car whatever so Im interested to here what you consider real value for the money with lenses. I will start the ball rolling with two of my own the Tamron 70/300 and the Sigma 10/20 both in my opinion give good results and both very well priced. Look forward to hearing from you all.

You will not get a better lens than that for that kind of money I paid over £300 a year ago and was looking at them this morning and they have rocketed in price lately. I would snap the offer up in case they sell out LOL.

Thanks everyone for the input I need to think about this purchase. I have waited two years for the show as the show was canceld last year due to heavy fog off the coast so I want to try and get some nice shots this year all being well.

Looks like a no go as the AF will only work correctly at F/4.5 which limits the focal length to around 70mm plus what extra is gained with the converter on the lens.

I can use my Kenko 1.5x on my Pentax 55/300 lens at the long end with problems only occurring in very low/poor light. My Kenko 2x however is a no go on this lens. Main problem you will have is the image degrades somewhat through the converter...
So does the lens work well at all the focal range with the converter ?.
