it has a picture with
F16 - for sunlight
F8 - for sun with overcast
F5.6 - for cloudy and darkish and sunny but casting a shadow on a tree
and it says above that "KODAK MAX 400 FILM shutter speed-daylight 1/250 second
Then
F4 - for someone playing squash with the light on
F2 with a personin a dark room with a light above there head on
Above that it says KODAK MAX 400 FILM shutter speed-artificial light 1/60 second

How do i make the numbers 30~1 not flash at night time without puting the flash on?
and what shutter speed should i use if i was across the river loking at the city with not many lights besides the city lights?
would 1/60 or 1/30 be good if i was standing near the buildings taking pictures?
SORRY ABOUT ALL THE QUESTIONS

i bought some basic Kodak Max 400 ISO film today (3 pack for $15AUD) and it has the aperture i should use on the side of the box.
when would you use the B (bulb) shutter speed also howcome the numbers 30 ~ 1 appear in orange it says in the manual its because of camera shake then in brackets it says (stow - shutter speed) is that a typo?
you say 1/1000 is good but the other guy (profession James or ething) said 1/1000 would be shocking at night - note i will actually be in the city so there will be more lighting than if i was across the river.

also if i put the shutter speed on says 250 how come it'll flash 125? does that mean i should change it to 125 because it will get overexposed?
Comment by Phat posted on What is Aperture at 12/10/2004 - 10:58
it said that these speeds are exposure
Apperture - SHutter SPeed
F22 - 15
F16 - 30
f11- 60
F8 - 125
f.5.6 - 250
whats a good shutter speed for3.5?
and whens the best time to use flash?
what apperture and shutter speed should i use tonight?
(SORRY ABOUT ALL THE QUESTIONS)
my lense is well im not sure its hard to read coz its in strange writing it says SICOR for the second word and the 2 last leters on the first word are HL with MC in green after that, F3.5-4.8 ZOOM no K8801839 with a 55 next to it with a small circle with a line through itit has macro at the bottom of the focus ring (or watever it's called) I know i shouldn't take night photos but the weather at the moment is cloudy and rainy and i love the moon just peeping through the clouds. i think the camera and the lense/flash might have come from canada or somewhere else because the camera, lense, and the flash all have a bronze sticker saying
Passed
J C I I
C/D JMDC

If you can not understand the basics of SLR Camera you should not be trying to use one. Clearly you are not a professional photographer nor a hobbist photographer (such as myself) so you are obviously not requiring extremely high-quality snaps so I can not understand why you dont just use a basic Digital Point-n-Shoot etc... Which would probably suit you just fine. Of someone of your age, who probably has not had much photographic experience at all! So it seems to me that you are grasping a bit high to begin with.
---
Secondly, personally i would not rely on the Auto settings on the P30. Although they probably work most of the time, at times i wouldnt be happy. This unknown lens is most likely crap, and will also not produce high-quality results. It is also quite slow. Look out especially for a Pentax-SMC 50mm 1.7 or 1.4 to achieve excellent results. You may also consider a Pentax (or maybe Sigma) Zoom.
For someone just begining, not only do i think that an SLR is just a bit to high to reach right now. It is silly and unnessecary to use expensive film on this camera - normal 200/400 Kodak or Fuji performs more than adequately - and also ensures that the ISO Speed is correct (due to the DX on the P30)
i was just asking for some help , you don't have to be such a rude <unt because im not a professional and i don't know all the shit that you do.
