That would involve logging out which I also can't do

Not sure if it may be the same on other mobile browsers or platforms, but when Safari loads the forum's mobile page, it doesn't include the part of the menu bar at the top that gives access to "My Portfolio", "Messages", "My Settings" and "Logout".

Crucially for me this means I can't read PMs that come in. The only time I use my laptop these days is at work (when I'm not on PU), and then when editing photos at home.

Am I missing something or is this really omitted from the mobile site?

I think you're right, John. Sadly the nearest camera place likely to have a lens is about 200 miles away - after we've left the scenic coast. Ah well - I'll just have to make do with 50mm

Thanks for the link, Carl. Just tried it but it doesn't seem to help. It does make me feel that this is a fault and not the result of damage I've caused. Perhaps a bumpy car journey will sort it out?

Oddly I was happily taking photos with it, stopped for 5 minutes with it in my hands, then it was locked up when I came back to it.

As title - currently on holiday in California and my 60-250 zoom is stuck between about 80 and 135mm.

No amount of reasonable force will allow it to fully extend. When it reaches 135mm it makes a pronounced click noise.

I've not dropped it, knocked it or mishandled it. Just plain stopped working.

I'm guessing it needs a repair, but anything I can try to do to resolve it while I'm away? There are dolphins swimming by outside and seals just up the shore. Would love to be able to get some pictures of them!

We missed it after 5 minutes, none available but strangely now the price has gone back up they are back in stock!
The Lightning deals are limited to a very small number. It's not that they ever ran out of stock but that they only allocated a certain number to the Lightning deal.

I'm there from Friday morning to Monday afternoon. Camping nearby.

I'm secretly hoping (well not so secret now!) that the USAF will send their F22 raptor display. They don't have another published commitment that weekend and the RIAT website says they are still negotiating with USAF...

Ooh that looks interesting. Seems like it could solve the problem perfectly, although another $50 + P&P! It is actually way smaller. That plate on the bottom is not included. It's just the bracket bit that's in your first link. That then has the 1/4" tripod mount on it.

That might work for the zooming problem, but it creates a new one where the sling drapes over the camera. It then just puts the sling straps in the way - either of the eyepiece or the rear screen while holding.

Ah yes a photo would help! Here's the setup. Come to think of it, the fact that the sling is fitted makes no difference to the problem. The problem will occur any time the foot is fitted underneath the lens. My left thumb collides with the foot when I want to zoom from one end to the other.

That bracket may help but it would make my setup even more bulky.
