Fix exposure that's what Don wrote.

Your flash exposure have this formula:
GN = working distance x f-number

So if your F-number change during zooming you have the problem that your exposure isn't right any more so you need to keep an eye on that.

With a lens which has a constant aperture this of course is no problem at all so you can concentrate more on shooting if you wish.
It's just a little thing that makes life easier.

If you shoot mostly with f/8 in the studio then of course this no problem, but with f/4 then you would have a problem with the longer ends with most non constant zooms.
Hi,

Thanks for the explanation.

To get the whole face in depth of field you would use f8 or similar most of the time anyway wouldnt you?

Hey dont get me wrong. I have no doubt the K7 is a brilliant camera , but for my hands its a little small. As for it looking professional , i wouldnt care if it was bright pink and had yellow spots on it as long as it felt good. Looks like Pentax share the same open mind as me as they have brought the colourful K-x out hahaha

Also , what do you mean by fixing the exposure every time you zoom??

Wow , alot of annoyance at my opinion on the K7. yes ive held one , actually ive held 2 for more than an hour at a time and didnt like the feel at all. Its alot smaller than the K20d (check the measurements) and feels alot different.

Hi James,

I didnt mean the iso noise in studio. I meant in other things i shoot (some landscapes)

I know the K20d would last me for the next 10yrs , i mean if the camera broke down and i couldnt get hold of another pentax k20d , then what? as it seems pentax along with others are going more towards the normal consumer than the pro

Hi,

Do you think Pentax will be bringing a K30d or similar out? As the K7 is far too small for me and dont want to be stuck with lots of expensive lenses and no decent body to put them on (i dont want to keep buying second hand bodies for studio work)
