I was trying out my new SMC Pentax-DA 35mm f2.4 lens earlier, actually doing some test shots in preparation for a location shoot with Rebecca on Sunday. Here she's twiddling her toes...

Background is distracting with all the ??? on the backdrop, especially the the thread hanging on her left sleeve.Over exposed on top right. From the angle the photo was taken the feet and hands seem large.A little bit of photoshop would clean it up. Walter.

I tried my af500 ftz on my k10 and it is not really compatible with any pentax digital camera. It ofcourse will work manually and auto mode, though you may not like the results of auto mode.Regards Walter

I've been browsing lots of websites lately with lots of pentax users dumping on the k5 and compacts.I purchased the k5 and gave it a test drive and it did'nt take long to realize this is one of the best cameras I bought.Compared to my nikon d300 which was my favourite camera and canon 7d I give the k5 the edge.I also should add that I don't have the stain on the sensor, so I must have been one of the lucky ones.On to the front focus issues with fast lenses on the k5.I shot over 80 shots under lowlight tungsten and never had one out of focus. Now to the compacts .For the price of the pentax compacts they are on par or better than the competition.Right now I can purchase i10 for 99.00 cdn.It seems pentax prefers to keep there compacts at low prices, so you can't compare these to a canon g11 or the lx5 which are hundreds of dollars more.As far as durability of pentax compacts my optio 33lf still works fine, wish I could say that for my canon g9.

I had the k5 for about 3 weeks and it is faster than my k20d.I also own a Nikon d300 and in my opinion they are pretty much equal in AF.I hope this helps.Regards Walter

Going in january 2011 for three weeks and it cant come fast enough
I have been in Jasper,Alberta numerous times, but not in January. You can pretty much count on cold weather, which could go as cold -40C. The colder the better as that will usually mean clear skies.Tempatures -15C or less you can expect low cloud cover so you won't see the mountain peaks.Roads can be challenging at this time of year.Blizzards are common in the mountain passes with snow accumulating quickly. As long as you dress for the weather you will do fine. There is lots to photograph around the Jasper within a hour drive so check with locals for info.Regards Walter.

I do like my k20d,but buying the k5 was the best decision I made. The k5 is light years ahead of the k20d.
Care to elaborate as I missed the K20 and got the K7 to use alongside my K10.

The K7 is not light years ahead of the K10. As far as IQ goes, non of the Pentax DSLR's are light years ahead of my istD. Slightly different yes.

Best regards
I don't really know where to start, but what is important to me is the faster f.p.s.Lower noise than the samsung 14.6 sensor.Does auto focus quicker in low light and ofcourse the new sensor.Between my Nikon d300s or the k5 I find the k5 beats the nikon in most areas, but that is my personal point of view.Regards Walter.

They are still listed as being there (unlike Canon:shock but according to pentaxforums Pentax have withdrawn from PMA this year. I guess that means waiting until March 11th for the news at the Japanese exhibition .

March 11th is the birthday of both my husband and grandson so I shall be too busy to keep check of the news.
I have been checking out different websites, and seems to be true.
