Hello Mark, welcome to the forum!
I'm sure you will love your new K5.
There are quite a few Scottish members, and in fact there is a forum meeting in Glasgow in April if you feel brave enough to join us all there .

Originally I was saving up for a K-7... then the K-5 came out. Some of the images people were posting from this camera are just incredible in terms of the sheer detail and colour fidelity. Impressive enough to save for 2 or 3 more months for, I thought. So I did.

The K-5 arrived! But still waiting for the Tamron lens. I do have a SMC Pentax-A 35-70mm F4 which I got from ebay for peanuts (£18 including postage!) I got it mainly for its relatively decent close-focusing ability as it will likely be a while before I can afford to splash out on a proper macro lens. It's not in perfect condition but it works and the optics seem sound from what I've seen so far. Plus I quite like playing around with manual focus anyway so it's right up my street and a bargain at the price.
Sadly all I've had time for this evening are some quick snapshots around the house. Come the weekend I'll get out and about and get creative regardless of whether I've got the Tamron lens or not, then hopefully I'll have a shot or two worth posting.
Thanks again for all the greetings!

Just posted some of my first K-5 shots in the Your Photos forum for anyone who's interested. Still no Tamron lens so I'm using the manual focus one.

I have just ordered my K-5 and Tamron 17-50 f2.8 lens from SRS! It's technically my first DSLR although I've had access to a Canon EOS 30D and the use of a 350D for a while. My K-5 should get here sometime next week according to SRS and I can't wait to receive it.
I thought I'd introduce myself since I've already gleaned a great deal of useful information from lurking and searching on these forums. All the users here seem like a friendly and helpful bunch, so no doubt I will be sticking around.
