From what I understand the recoil is actually more because the shutter is heavier.

Funny, I have had the opposite feeling. Maybe its just me, but I can feel the shutter move in my K10D/K20D, but when I tested a K-7 it was smooth.

Sorry to put the kybosh on this, but Jaguar is now owned by the Indians (Tata to be precise)

Still, I would LOVE a Jag!

A K20D mk2 (or should that be a K10D mk3!)
Magnesium bodied like the K-7
3" screen
K-7 shutter on it (quieter and less recoil than the K20D shutter)
at least 6fps, maybe 7fps (and an increase of fps to 7-8 with grip, ala Nikon)
Bigger buffer and faster write speeds
SR switch on the back (not on the K-7)
faster more accurate AF
more than 11 AF points, maybe with 3d tracking.
more precise metering (the K20D can under expose, the K-7 can over expose)
Low light/hi ISO performance like the k-x
Full weather sealing will be a given.
lockable dial from the K-7 as so many times I have accidently moved it on the K20D
If a tilt screen can be provided without compromising weather sealing would be nice.
twin card slots would be nice too, but as long as will take SDXC then that might not be an issue.
improve the 14.6 APS-C even more, no point trying to go to 18mp.
1/250 flash sync
100% VF
electronic level.

So, basically taking the best of each model and putting it into a new K20D model, plus some improvements generally.

Ahh Kodachrome..

I have one in the camera at the moment and another roll.

Must use them before the end of November though to get them processed.

I like the analogy of car makes, as a couple of years ago I said a similar thing on another forum.

BMW = Canon. Arrogant, wanting to take over the world.
Mercedes = Nikon, went through a lean patch where products were not so good, but back. Still big and has an air of "superiority"
Jaguar = Pentax. A lot smaller than the other two, had difficulties in the past, but capable enough to scare the bejesus out of the other two. Gains respect when you see one. Now seriously good products at a reasonable price (or were)
And now we can have another
Audi = Sony. Owned by a multinational (VW = Sony electronics) so massive, putting out products to cover as many price points but so similar, muscling in on the established brands.

We don't have the DS2 over here I believe.
We did (sort of)

It was the Samsung GX-1S.
The GX-1L was based on the DL2

So in some ways you can say we did get the DS2, but not with a Pentax badge on it.

I still have my DS and it is a great camera.

If you wanted to choose, either the D (but only takes CF cards) or the DS

Advantage of the DS over the DL/DL2 etc is that it has a pentaprism rather than the cheaper and dimmer pentamirror.

Oh yes it has 11 point AF rather than a mere 5 of the DL

Well since it costs £250 the badge HAS to offer some serious snob value! (Panasonic LX3 with a Panasonic badge: £300, Panasonic LX3 with a Leica badge: £550)
Tell me, Panasonic LX3 and Leica DLux4. Same camera with ever so slightly different processing (not that you would notice)
Leica looks better, but £200-£250 better? not a chance!

Panasonic have now resolved that with the LX-5 which is better still.
Watch Leica failing to sell any more D-Lux4 models as a result.......

LOL, I like the thread mowog.
I know Greys having been there myself. And the Leica centre near the British museum.

However the biggest snobs, or should I say put-downers, are Canon users!

You could have a nice decent conversation about photography and a Canonite would spout up, saying anything else is rubbish, and not in a funny way.
I think they have to shout to cover for their own shortfalls.

If you put a Nikon user, a Pentax user and a canon user in a room, the Nikon and Pentax user would get on well....

Leica is a different matter. It is well made, has very nice optics, but it still only a camera, but that badge!!!

Still, if you were offered a Leica M9 and 50mm 0.95 Noctilux for free, would you turn it down? No, me neither. but I think a K-7 and 31mm Limited would probably do the job just as well (oh yes, that is another thing about canonites, dissing short primes......)

Finally, in the past I was the only pentaxian around and people laughed! Then more Pentax's appeared on the streets, and fellow togs started looking and commenting that in the past they had a Pentax but changed. Then looked at results and thought "hmmmm Pentax is pretty good after all" Well at least Nikonians did.....
