Whats new

With the world of technology changing so fast and new products comming onto the market, it seems every six months or so. Can I ask the question what would forum members realy like to see in the next Pentax Digital slr camera.Would it be full frame or better noise at high iso or may be a better extended warranty. Any way think it over and I look forward to reading your opinions.

I would like an APS-C camera. Smaller and lighter than the K20D. So K-7 size or smaller would be good. Better high ISO noise would be great, as would a faster auto focus system. Also optional dark frame NR, such as the K10D had would be a plus.
Better live view, with a tilt and turn screen, could prove useful on occasion, but isn't essential.
Weatherproofing is essential.

A built in GPS logger which writes to PEFs would be a bonus.

A better strap in the box - Pentax straps lately have been a bit dire imho.

I don't need or want FF, nor do I need or particularly want more MP.

I agree with that - what happened to the straps with a pocket on each side for the hot shoe cover? I miss them!

And the strap for my k20d still has the film rewind pusher from film SLR days on it. Why???

K-7 with a much better AF system and the ISO performance of the K-x.

Maybe dual card slots as well.

I would also like a DA* zoom lens in the 15/18-125mm ish range, a 400mm f4 and a 1.4x DA* teleconverter

Something K20D size, at least 5fps, ISO performance of the K-x or better, faster AF, better SR performance.

A DA*1.4 TC and or a DA*400mm

I think this question has been asked prior to each imminent arrival of a new body. The one 'wish' that has always been asked for is a better, faster, AF system. We still don't have it yet. Will we get it on the next body? Let's hope so.

For the moment, I'm happy with my K20D's but any and all of the above requests would be on my wish list.

My K20D goes out the door August 28th, so I shall be bodyless - photographically speaking - for a while. Once the new model(s) is(are) announced I'll decide what to go for next.

Meanwhile I can always use my husband's Km.

I really hope the new one isn't as big as the K20D - one of the reasons it's going is the size.

Well now!.............I'm quite happy with my K20!

DFA WR prime lenses.

Keep the midrange model K-7 sized, 10fps 16mp sensor with low noise and 1080 video. Announce plans for a FF sensor.

I'm also "QUITE" happy with my k20D but I would like to see improved high ISO noise performance. Autofocus isn't always as fast or as accurate as I would like (but that's not a major concern for me really.)
Probably just me .....But, what I would like is a fast way to disable autofocus on shutter push without diving into all those menus.
Or for instance the ability to assign it to the AF button only in "user" mode. So when you hand the camera to someone else , the camera will still autofocus on the shutter push when you take it out of "user" mode.
Oh.... and about the size of an MX!
With 1080 video at 25fps

A better autofocus system and a better iso performance seems to be two things that members would like to see improved upon. What about a larger and easier to see LCD screen say something like the new 3.0" Active Matrix OLED screen in the Samsung NX 10 which I tried out the other day and found it very clear and easy to see the photos on the display in full sun something which can be quite hard I have found on the k10.

Would be very handy for macro.

Yes that would be very helpful when shooting at ground level to see the display of the scene in the screen before taking the photo.

A K20D mk2 (or should that be a K10D mk3!)
Magnesium bodied like the K-7
3" screen
K-7 shutter on it (quieter and less recoil than the K20D shutter)
at least 6fps, maybe 7fps (and an increase of fps to 7-8 with grip, ala Nikon)
Bigger buffer and faster write speeds
SR switch on the back (not on the K-7)
faster more accurate AF
more than 11 AF points, maybe with 3d tracking.
more precise metering (the K20D can under expose, the K-7 can over expose)
Low light/hi ISO performance like the k-x
Full weather sealing will be a given.
lockable dial from the K-7 as so many times I have accidently moved it on the K20D
If a tilt screen can be provided without compromising weather sealing would be nice.
twin card slots would be nice too, but as long as will take SDXC then that might not be an issue.

I only want three things on top of the K-7 at the moment.

1: Better high ISO , low light capability.
2: Mikes: DA* zoom lens in the 15/18-125mm with 50% loyalty bonus.
3a: AI composition assistance with modes like "Adams, Arbus, Becher, Eggleston, Strand, Kandar, Salgado, Penn etc etc." And a special shutter release mode, like trap in focus, called "Bresson".
3b: moon on a stick.
