In that case John, play fleabay at their own game. Non-AF lenses are vintage, cheaper to list. Any Pentax user worth their salt will know one lens from another and search accordingly.

David, if it helps. I have both a M50 and FA50, used a lot.
The M50 is a F1.7 and the FA50 is a 1.4.
I have found the following:-

The M is better wide open. It has CA but it is small and "hard" so easy to remove. The FA50 is more dreamy and more difficult to get rid of.
The M has a lot more contrast wide open than the FA50, yet the FA50 could be used for effect.
Stopped down to F2.5 or more, the FA50 comes into its own, edging the M50 in performance.
The FA50 has AF and better to focus on my DSLR bodies. The M50 less so, but I wear glasses, which it probably the issue.

In the end, I am lucky to have both, and both are used depending on the subject. But at the end of the day, I would probably say that the FA just edges it. Then again, the M50 is a delight to use....
Oh dear I have not helped at all.......

Fantastic! Looks like the K-3 is superb. I wonder with the clout that Ricoh have, that they have got Sony to make a mk2 version of the 24MP sensor. It seems far better than the A77 and D5200......
Or is it just the Pentax processing engine.........

It is a shame really, as Tamron have produced some good, indeed great lenses. Their 90mm Macro is a case in point. I have an old F2.5 one and the current 17-50mm zoom too. Their 70-200mm also got some great reviews, albeit with noisy AF. But us Pentaxians are used to a noisy AF.
It is a shame that they never produced their rather wonderful and flexible 60mm F2 Macro on K-mount, as that would have been a great lens on a Pentax body.
I fear that the current Tamron stance may have something to do with a certain major shareholder, aka Sony! They cannot stop making lenses for the big two, aka CaNikon as it would be suicide! but a smaller player such as Pentax, which is trying to rival Sony in interchangable lens camera sales, what better way than to hinder them by stopping a part owned third party company from producing lenses for them?
Only by keeping the brand in question by producing a minimal range of lenses with that brand name (aka 18-270mm) but sell it at in inflated price do you try and keep them sweet.
Unfortunately I am not the first to see this.

Still, Ricoh seem to be on the ball and starting to produce gear that not only excite current Pentaxians, but also mutterings from other forums, other brand users too. It will be a long journey but hopefully a fruitful one, and the big leviathan that is Sony will see the error of their ways and decide that Tamron K-mount lenses is a too good an opportunity to miss.

One way would be how Nikon consider all their F mount lenses. I know they are a different brand, but They do have a line of usability with them on modern DSLR's. Probably not ideal as we all know that certain bodies will only work with in body motors, some with screw motors. none with old F mount. Blurred somewhat by the new Df which is designed with old lenses in mind (are they copying our beloved Pentax now?)

No, I will stick with K mount and M42 as the divider for this suggestion.

One strange thing though. DA14mm still on the list? According to the Pentax rep I spoke to a few months ago, this lens had been dropped. Have they brought it back?

I am with Mac. K-mount lenses are very useable, and there are plenty about for those who wish to have fun with them, or even have a very cheap but exceptional option to modern lenses. Even now my K55 F1.8 is used for work, as is my M50 F1.7, and I have the FA50mm F1.4!
M42 can go into the other category, even though that most of the time they are better to use with Av mode on DSLR's (or so I have found). Call them useable collectables.

Superb shots Barrie.
It reminds me when I went back in 2006. The *istDS was my camera of choice. The place is so powerful.

That is my concern John. The K-01 is no longer made, so getting a replacement will be an issue. But the sale of goods act should cover this. I may end up with a replacement in "smurf" blue instead as they are still made.
I won't say any more, as Chris is probably reading this, but hopefully will understand the issue.
