I forgot that the *istD was compact flash!

But we are in agreement with the models
DS
DS2(if you can find one)
GX1S
K100D super (the K200D only has a pentamirror, but you will see a difference with a pentaprism really)
And the one I forgot, the mighty K10D, so much of a bargain buy now, especially as a lot of people have upgraded to the K20D (including me, but I will not get rid of my K10D.....sorry)

BTW don't be put off with the Samsung GX1S, as I said previously it is only a rebodied DS2 and on my suggestion, both my parents bought this model as it was only £250 new with kit lens.

Well there are the following

*ist - Film 35mm SLR
*istD - DSLR, 6 megapixels pentaprism, option of battery grip.
*istDS - DSLr, 6MP, Pentaprism, less spec than the D but smaller and I still use mine.
*istDL - DSLR, 6MP, Pentamirror, like the DS but only the mirror.
*istDL2 - DLSR, 6MP, Pentamirror, like the DL but a larger LCD
*istDS2 - DLSR, 6MP, Pentaprism, again like the DS but Larger LCD.

There are of course the following which are part of the *ist range in all but name (same 6MP sensor)
K100D - DSLR, 6MP, Pentamirror, Has shake reduction
K110D - DSLR, 6MP, Pentamirror
K100D Super - DSLR, 6MP, Pentamirror, Shake reduction and SDM compatable
Samsung GX1L - DSLR, 6MP, Pentamirror, A rebodied DL2
Samsung GX1S - SDLR, 6mp, Pentaprism, A rebodied DS2

Personally, I would go for any of the following:-
*istDS
*istDS2 (not sold in UK)
Samsung GX1S
K100D Super (does not have a pentaprism, but does have SR and SDM compatibility)

Hope this helps.

If push comes to shove, from my previous thread, it would have to be the mighty DA*50-135, but I would miss the others big time.

Too tough a choice. which would I keep? My 16-45mm F4, my stunning DA*50-135mm, my nifty fifty (aka FA50mm F1.4), my Tokina 20-35mm F2.8 ATX-Pro, my 10-20mm Sigma or even my nice little 135mm F2.5 takumar? hmmmm could not make the choice, so thank god I don't have to choose in reality.

Not got the 16-50 as I dont have the funds, but I did buy the 16-45 at Focus for a mere £180, and all I can say so far so good. Nice and light and the IQ is impressive. only down sides is no weather sealing and screw focus. But hey, it was far less than the 17-70 and 16-50, and has that usual Pentax bonus of excellent IQ.

Came back from Budapest a couple of weeks back.

Took a tripod, no problems at all.

Get yourself a 72 hour public transport card an hop on and off.
Places to photograph, there are plenty, night shots, try north of the chain bridge so you can get the palace in, and on the Buda side of the river, from the palace itself. Plenty of trams to take pics of, and even shots in the tube, no-one bats an eyelid (unlike London!)
Have a look on my flickrstream for insparation.

It looks like mine was reasonable too, not bought on fleabay, but from the Cameraworld stand at Focus yesterday. Price? a mere £180 for a brand new model. So if you want one get over to Focus tomorrow or Weds and get one. (normal cameraworld price is £195)

Has anyone had a problem with this lens?

I was doing some publicity shoots on Thursday and put this lens on the K20D.
Problems I was having was that the lens would not focus at all, whether in AF or MF.
After taking the lens off and on the camera many times, I would focus, but the images were black even with my 540fgz providing light.
I changed lenses (fortunately having another lens with me, namely my Sigma 24-70mm F2.
I did the shoot with the sigma, and after the shoot, I put the DA* back on. This time it worked fine.
This is the first time this has happened, so a little worried that it could happen again.

This is my fave lens, and would not want to have a problem with it constantly

Advices please

personally I would'nt get a battery from E-bay. I have heard of too many horror stories about fake batteries.

If you want a good battery that is half the price of the Pentax, get the Hahnel one. only £20 from WEX, I have one and it is a good as the Pentax one.

You are not having mine......LOL

A low mileage model had since new...
How things change, I paid £300 for mine, in a sale (was £450) back in 2000, but 12 months later mainstream DSLR's appeared. Still I will not part with it, I like it too much.

If you can get a good one on flea-bay, then get hold of it.
