Scary forest Posted in Your Photos |
I like them too :) i think the top one would have worked better with a square crop with the top portion only. it would look more wild and prehistoric without any trace of people, or the path |
Heff, the dog Posted in Your Photos |
Cheers. i'm quite pleased with it. nice earthy photo. about the right feel for this time of year |
Heff, the dog Posted in Your Photos |
Ack, no edit button either. try this one |

It was dry today, so i took the camera on one of today's many dog walks. i'm reasonably happy with this, being straight out of the camera, only changed to jpeg and added my name. could be a little more crisp, but hey ho. improvement comes with practice. |
new lens, time to play Posted in Your Photos |
Was on a daytime shift today, so just took my little terrier for a change. had a play with my new sigma DL 70-300mm. I must say, I do like this lens so far. chuck norris, the patterdale terrier random bit of grass and took this off my SMC DA 18-55 |

Thanks for the input peter. I will dig your thread out now. |
Pentax F 28-80/35-80? Posted in Lenses for Pentax Cameras |
Haha, oddly enough i've just been reading that thread. some nice results there. i've seen an FA SMC 28-80 for cheap. that's just a slightly newer version, right? |
Pentax F 28-80/35-80? Posted in Lenses for Pentax Cameras |
Ah ok, if the image quality isn't all that good, then i'll leave the cash til i can pick up something better quality. just been reading some reviews, and it seems the F type isn't all that sharp. but the similarly priced FA versions are actually very sharp (according to review-ists). will do some more searching, maybe take a punt. |

Not a bad effort. quite like the composition and looks good in b&w. little soft on the focus though. try to focus on the eyes at f1.7. or at f4-5ish you'll have more of the "face" in focus, which works well with dogs and their longer faces. |

Just mooching around to see what I can get hold of to play with really. These 2 seem to be very reasonably priced. is that because theyre common? or because theyre no good? namely the F 28-80mm f3.5-5.6 and the F SMC 35-80mm f4.5-5.6. both £25-£40. seems a steal really. how do they compare to the DA 18-55mm kit lens from my k100d super? |
"DL" lens? Posted in Lenses for Pentax Cameras |
Lens arrived yesterday. it's actually pretty decent i think. took some quick mucking around shots at home. smallprint on an aerosol from across the room came up crispy clear. got a shot right up the dog's nose. autofocus works smoothly, all the rings turn freely but sturdily. well happy with it :) |

Ah cool, good shots :) |
"DL" lens? Posted in Lenses for Pentax Cameras |
Fair one cheers ilovesaabs. the dl one is listed as a super macro, whatever that might mean. for £50 i'll take a punt and see how we go. i have a nice sunagor 80-200 old manual lens that i really like. but just thought for sake of convenience, might be nice to have an autofocus from time to time. |
"DL" lens? Posted in Lenses for Pentax Cameras |
Thanks john, just come up with this.... DL Deluxe. Full featured lenses and come with a custom lens hood, feature half stop increments on manual aperture settings, depth of field scale, distance scale, infrared correction mark. advert said "manual and autofocus", so whilst i'm now a bit worried, i think i'll be ok. it's a 70-300mm f4-5.6. it was cheap, but not cheap enough for it to be a manual lens. so fingers crossed now i suppose. |
"DL" lens? Posted in Lenses for Pentax Cameras |
Yes it's on a sigma lens. is it the same as a pentax da-l then? or something completely different? |
"DL" lens? Posted in Lenses for Pentax Cameras |
I have that. There is no reference to "DL", only DA-L |
"DL" lens? Posted in Lenses for Pentax Cameras |
Hi, I can't seem to find any info on a DL lens. only DA-L... is there a difference? |
new suit Posted in Your Photos |
Thanks folks :) oh I will Gwyn, I don't think one can feel "too Michael Corleone" |
new suit Posted in Your Photos |
Picked up a nice 3 piece armani for pennies the other day :) |
couple misc shots from this evening Posted in Your Photos |
Not in work tonight due to car trouble... so got a couple of quick shots around the office my old 1980s Sunagor ultra-compact m42 mount, manual 80-200mm :) i think it's my favourite lens my little grumpy terrierman i whittled at work. |
baby lovebird :) Posted in Your Photos |
Exercise time meant more photos time :D having a quick rest on the light both at full extension on a 1980s sunagor 80-200mm... f8 iso200 w/camera-flash |

DARK images Posted in Troubleshooter |
No neither are cropped, i just took them off the camera and saved them as jpegs to upload as the raw files failed to upload. |

So it really is just due to poor light? ok fair. i'll just play around and get the hang of it. steven, it's just a little cuttlefish bone, but i see what you mean. in what way might the distance affect it? i was on the opposite side of the room for the really dark one |
DARK images Posted in Troubleshooter |
Yes theyre both old manual lenses. and the use aperture ring setting is definitely set to permitted. |
