I think the DS and DL using the AE-L button for this was essentially a work-around for the fact that those models don't have a green button, so no I don't think you can emulate this behaviour on the models which do.

As has been frequently observed, K-30 and K-50 are VERY close to being the same camera in slightly different bodies, so keeping them both in the range makes no sense at all, and certainly the K-30 doesn't fall below the K-500. As for the K-r..... as you have observed, it is functionally discontinued even if not officially.

I had written a long post in support of Smeggy, and I still think he's almost certainly right. I have just thought of another way you might be able to do this, but I really don't think it would be worth the extra processing and jiggery pokery which would be required. By far the most sensible and likely option is that Pentax have made the sensor do a little dance at high speed to introduce the same level of blur as would be caused by an optical AA filter. Therefore, we can expect the differences between having it on and off to be about the same as the difference between the K5-II and the K5-IIs, ie, not all that much really except in very specific circumstances.

Those pictures are either carefully considered and approved, or unofficial. Pentax/Ricoh aren't stupid.

They don't want images in the wild which they don't control, those they have released will have been very carefully crafted to avoid pushing the camera, whereas any of us would imediately start trying to find the limits.

unless Chris has outdone himself (I wasn't there), there aren't many opportunities to demonstrate AF tracking inside the SRS shop, and in any case the AF speed may or may not be improved in the production model with updated firmware etc

my first thought exactly, although I suppose one can judge how it feels in the hand and how good the AF is, what the viewfinder is like etc.


I guess we're still on pre-production firmware at this stage and they don't want photos taken with the pre-production model getting out into the wild.

nice set, I particularly like #3, really emphasises the stop-go through the roadworks.

As for the software SR, I'm going to guess #5 as it seems much softer than the others.

i like the tipper action on #6, a shame about the distracting "wandering" light trails which I assume were workmen walking about or something.
