go here

http://www.pentaximaging.com/customer_care/show_software?softId=1

scroll right down to where it says "pentax remote assistant (windows)"

there are two links just above the picture of the download dialogue box, one downloads the software, the other downloads the manual. They look like this

>> INSTRA01.EXE

and

>> Pentax Remote Assistant Manual for Windows

I'd link to the files directly, but I'm not sure thats strictly speaking allowed

hope this helps

/me hangs head in shame

in my deffence, I don't have any Adobe products.

Now I just need to get Silkypix to release a Linux version. If they did, I would buy it. Come to think of it, has anyone tried running Silkypix under WINE?

Pentax Lab is very basic in what it allows you to do. It does have one feature which I miss though.

In Pentax Lab you can draw a line along the horizon and it will rotate the image for you to get that horizon level. This is a very simple solution to a common problem, and I haven't seen it done this way in any other program. Not even the much beloved Silkypix.

I would be surprised if they go to low end bodies without the screw drive in the next year or so.

This is because the low end bodies tend to be the smallest, and therefore pair well to the screw driven Limited pancakes.

Also even once the 17-70 comes out there will be very few SDM lenses available, and almost all of them will be very expensive.

If they want to drop screw drive support from the cameras, they'll need to build up a decent range of inexpensive SDM lenses, at least covering the typical newbie range of ~18-200.

I don't think I've ever gone into an Argos and had them actually have the item I wanted in stock.

They combine all that is rubbish about mail order and high street shopping.

So do you think it would probably be worth me buying a camera with stock 18-55mm lens and waiting for the Pentax 55-300mm rather than paying the extra £100 for the lens, camera bag and memory card.
I suppose it would keep me occupied for a month os so with just the normal lens.
The 55-300 is supposed to come out in May. Given that they had one at SRS open day, I would expect it to be more or less on time. We're not talking about a total vapourware lens here, they have genuinely figured out how to build one and have done so on at least one occasion.

You will of course need a memory card and you'll probably want a case so the deal is still worth considering. Look at the price of the card and case separately and see how much you are actually paying for the lens.

Also make sure the case and card are ones you would actually buy given the choice. No sense spending an extra £100 if you're going to end up replacing all three accessories quickly anyway.

I got to play with one at SRS's open day and was very impressed, it was noticeably better at 300mm than my trusty Pentax FA 80-320.

A can of pressurised air is the most convenient solution. Make sure it's designed for the purpose, with no oily additives.

also make sure it's upright, you can get propellant and all sorts coming out of those cans if you're not careful.
Not if you buy the right stuff. Pure compressed air should have no gunk in it.

G
I didn't know you could buy pure compressed air in a can, but I still wouldn't trust it fully even if that was the claim. Keeping the can upright if it is truely pure wont cause any problems, and turning it upside down if it's not surely will.

That's quite cheap for such a good lens.

But if you have some spare cash to spend on lenses, try this:

I am a little alarmed by any auction which claims that something has happened (note the past tense) 4 years after my death. Especially if it is supposed to have been done by my daughters (of which I have none that I know of).
