the inability to turn this function off is the 2nd reason why I don't have a K20D behind the fact that I don't have the money.

I use my camera for Astro photography, and the ability to turn off the dark frame subtraction part of the NR system is an essential for me. I am not happy at the idea of halving the number of exposures I can take of an evening.

(this post is mainly for the benefit of any Pentax R&D people who may be reading. You may not be able to think of a reason to turn something off, but rest assured some of us out here can!)

I get a bit frustrated with mine but I put that down to inexperience with flash. I could never get it to work properly in slave mode with the built in flash as the trigger, and the P-TTL seems to under-expose badly. I've taken to using it on manual mostly.
If you get the chance, compare it against a "known good" flash unit, ie one somebody is happy with. My Sigma 530 under-exposed pretty badly on PTTL when I first got it, I compared it to my Dad's Metz 48 and it was clearly wrong. SRS sent it back to Sigma for me and now it's perfect.

All this actually means is that the standard supports up to 2TB, the technology to get that much flash memory onto an SD card is a few years off IMO.

They have just been taken a bit by surprise at how quickly technology has caught up with the SDHC standard and are trying to give it a bit more headroom this time.

Tak 135 (Bayonet) f2.5 is a great lens for portraiture....
I sold mine recently because I already have the FA 77 and 85 mm lenses for that purpose....
It also comes in very handy for wide field Astro

I am almost afraid to say this in case I get kicked off the forum, but this is the best cable release I've found for Pentax cameras:

Well made and as cheap as the chinese knock offs, just don't read the brand name!

The beloved Spotmatic!

I pick mine up every once in a while, and they were right! Still are!

And check out that 1:1.4 Super Takumar! That's GLASS! (And class). Or is it a 1:1.2!?!

In M42 mount for a Spotmatic, it'll be a 1:1.4, the M42 mount is too small to allow 1:1.2 50mm lenses. Sorry, my geek is showing, I'll get my coat.....

So I have been looking at the Pentax outlet, would you go for a 100d super (6MP) or wait for say a 200d, 10d or 20d to be put on the site.
I am interested, what do you mean by "the Pentax Outlet"? Is there a new and interesting supplier of out of date but still functional Pentax kit we should all know about?

Peter just about sums it up,

when you're looking at older Pentax glass, this site also comes in handy

my DL2 meters correctly with everything, I expect the K-m will be K10D like in its metering, that is incorrect but consistent with older lenses. It's annoying, but you can get used to it.

The only deal breaker spec I've seen on the K-m which seems to have gone largely unmentioned is it has no DoF preview, other than that it seems to be a fine camera.

I have an adaptall 2 PK/A mount in stock - used of course, but in good order.

I was going to shove it on Ebay, but would take £35 including delvery.

Let me know if you want it - you can have first refusal!!

Careful Chris, you'll get your hand bitten off!!
