yes it will, in fact I have used an FA 80-320 on a K1000 so by comparison the MX is practically new.

Don't forget to take the aperture ring off the A setting though!

Also, Pentax was at the time the name of a particular SLR camera manufactured by Asahi Optical Co, not the name of a company.

They didn't become Pentax Corp until really quite recently, my MZ-7 is badged "Asahi Optical".

BLASPHEMER!!!!!!! BURN HIM!!!!!!! BURN HIM AT THE STAKE!!!!!!

perhaps "functionally similar to Pentax SMC" would be more diplomatic

seriously though, great list so far, hopefully it will be a great help to new starters.

RTFM - Read the Fantastically well written Manual *

these are Pentax cameras after all

LOL - Laughing Out Loud
ROFL - Rolling on Floor Laughing (just a stronger version of LOL)

These are standard internet jargon abbreviations which you will find scattered across most of the (english speaking at least) internet, spawned in chat rooms and old style bulletin boards but now more or less ubiquitous.

Some others

WTF - What in heavens name is going on, old bean? *
OMG - Oh My Goodness! *
AFAIK - As Far As I Know
AFAIC - As Far As I'm Concerned
ASAP - As Soon As Possible
TTFN - TaTa For Now (haven't seen that used in a while)

There are many many of these, I generally try to avoid using them on boards like this where some readers are not particularly computer savvy and so don't spend enough time on the internet to pick these things up, but sometimes they just slip in.

Using them anywhere is not compulsory (of course), but if you want to know what people on the internet are saying there's a small group of them you probably want to understand.

* OK most of us know or suspect these are not the original intended wordings, but small children read this board.

but the last one...... judging from recent trends in the market I must admit Pentax would risk falling "behind" if they didn't give it some sort of movie mode so that is my bet. Personally I'd rather the camera just did stills better than anything else in its price range, but it's clearly a feature which a lot of people want and Pentax must produce the features people want or risk losing market share.

I have resisted mentioning this in any thread on the matter, because I know I'm being pedantic and we all know what is meant when someone refers to an SLR with an EVF.

However, it's bugging me and I just have to say it somewhere so here it is, nice and separate so it wont get in the way of other peoples discussions

there is no such thing as an SLR with an EVF

there, that feels better.

SLR stands for Single Lens Reflex and refers to the fact that the viewfinder image is created using a reflective system coupling directly to the main lens. A camera may LOOK and even feel and act like an SLR, but if it doesn't have a mirror, it's not an SLR.

You might just as well call a modern digital compact a Rangefinder because it looks a bit like one.

Rant over. Sorry about that all.

agreed as far as photography goes, of course this is one situation in which I must always be careful to keep my hobbies separate....

darn, and there was me hoping it would turn out to be a limited mistake like that stamp with the plane upside down, so in 10 years time I could flog it for millions!!!

I should perhaps explain,

in my copy the article on interior shooting just stops mid sentance. I'm just wondering if this is a freak printing error of some kind or if it's in them all

I've got a finished film somewhere, but I can't find anywhere to get it processed

anyone know of a place in the UK?

I am contemplating selling my 110 kit as I never use it, but then I pick it up and think what a good conversation starter it is with photographers and I can't quite bring myself to do it.
