Yes I noticed last night that the stats menu option had disappeared, although you could still navigate to the stats page through 'recent activity'. I thought this might be another flickr page update or something, but the stats option in the menu is back now so it must have been some temporary glitch...

As far as I can tell the K3 has marginally faster focus with non-HSM-type lenses. It's certainly a bit louder and seems faster at least... although I am not sure whether it is absolutely more accurate. I regularly spend time taking photos of the family - especially the kids as they hurtle about. generally (esp. if the lighting is not great, which is often... esp. indoors) I try to use fast lenses (normally shoot between f1.4 and f2.2) which presents a challenge anyway as the DOF is thin and when people are shifting around it's not surprising to get a few missed focusses. Having used a bunch of camera/lens combos, the set-up which I have found gave me (marginally) the best hit rate was actually to manually focus... takes a couple of shots to get into the 'zone' but then you're away. That said, I was using a mirrorless body with an electronic viewfinder with focus peaking, which certainly helped...

I saw the story in the 'Metro' this morning on the way to work. Really good news and a fantastic winning picture. Even colleagues in the office were talking about it and so it clearly made a positive impression!

Well done again to Mark

I just tried out the 50-135 on a full frame digital camera (with an adapter). It is just about full frame at 135mm; bit of light vignetting. Below that there are some pretty seriously black corners - the image circle below 135 clearly doesn't cover full frame. That said, if you use the centre of the frame and crop the corners off the end result you might get some neat results... It's a top lens; would be interested to see the results

Gosh that is very cool indeed - nice one. I have only ever seen a Kingfisher twice, and both times it was like a flash! fantastic to see nonetheless.

There's one on ebay at the moment I think...

There's also a pentax M* 400mm for pentax 67 on there as well, although it's more expensive...

Yes I agree, these are excellent, especially as they are shot through the side of an aquarium. Especially liking the first two - the DOF in the first and the angles in the second Top stuff

Yes I think HDR would be a good solution, although works best with a tripod. You might also be able to balance the dark inside with the bright outside by using a flash, although I suspect you'll need to use manual mode and experiment a bit; although that would probably require a flashgun rather than the on board...?
