Also, any pictures you take there will miraculously come alive when printed, showing several seconds of repeating 'mini movie' around the moment you captured. Many people do not realise this as they only view their pictures on a computer screen and never print them.

Really nice. I tried something similar back in December but yours is far, far better.

I really like this. The Black & White gives it a kind of old-school TV sci-fi feel to it which is really cool, although your reflection in the helmet does detract from that a little bit. I don't suppose it was avoidable but it is removable should you wish to go down that route.

I also prefer the halfway version.

For the past two years I have photographed the Beltane Fire Festival (30th April, Calton Hill, Edinburgh) as a member of the audience. It has become my favorite event of the year to photograph, but it's hard to get close to the action with all the crowds... So this year I decided to try to get into the official photographers group.

I did (along with my wife), and it's a lot of hard work (lots of practices and other activities to photograph in the 8 or 9 weeks leading up to the event) but really more than worth it, as well as being great fun. I'm going to do it again next week for sure.

I ended up contributing over 200 photographs to the pool (out of over 600 I took) from the actual night itself. They can be seen on the Beltane Fire Society Flickr stream here.

However I thought I'd post a few favorites here too.

They were all taken with the K-5 II, DA* 50-135 and Metz 58 AF-2 flash. (Inconveniently, the flash for my wife's Canon decided to break at the last minute so she ended up using my K-5 with the Tamron 17-50 and spare Sigma flash. The K-5 is better in low light but she's much more comfortable with her Canon so it wasn't ideal for her).

Unfortunately due to the constraints of the event (particularly space and the need to move around quickly) using on-camera flash is pretty much a necessity and I know many of the shots could look better with off camera flash, but I'm very pleased with some of my shots nonetheless.

The flying spaghetti monster don't use wings.

Yes, and does so in a way that looks terrible in low light images, or any images with large areas of shadow. You end up getting these little square blocks of slightly lighter shadow, often in seemingly random colours. It's really nasty.

I don't understand why this don't buy now, wait for the next big thing keeps coming up. I don't understand the mentality at all. New camera bodies are always on the horizon and it's never been any reason to put of buying if current models meet your requirements. This time is no different from any other.

I think it's rather naive to assume that the current perceived 'reasonable' pricing of CC subscriptions will remain once CS has well and truly gone the way of the dodo. The current pricing structure was set with both schemes running in parallel. When CC has become the only option and obsolescence issues (such as no support for newer RAW files or newer OS versions) begin affecting the old CS applications, Adobe can and will increase the prices of subscriptions dramatically, albeit probably in a staged manner over a few years so it doesn't appear quite so harsh on the surface.

IMO it's not a question of whether this will happen, just a question of when and how.

Dang, hope this isn't true. I want a DA* 16-50 but not quite ready to purchase it yet.
