The bestest bestest Pentaxuser.co.uk, semi retired, expat, half(?) decent chap and existing customer price would be £699. It will be £729 on my site when in..

Thanks Chris. My credit card is doing well now, it's off drip feed and taking solids so hopefully when you get them in it will once again be my 'flexible friend' and I can place another order. If you don't hear from me for a while after that you'll know that my wife has found out what I've been doing in UK . . . spending her housekeeping money again.

Actually I'm a first class decent chap but I didn't want to grovel too much. I think its so degrading to lower oneself to that extent.

Cheers,

Chris,

My 77 was delivered by your good selves last week and it is a magnificant bit of kit. I just wish I had my camera in UK to try it out

When do you expect to get some 31mm lenses in, coz I want one?

Oh, and if you can swing a decent discount for a forum member , semi retired , ex pat living in the sun , and half decent chap and existing customer . . . I'll have one.

Cheers,

Note to self: Try not to make grovelling quite so obvious.

Thanks for that. Maybe I should have researched a little more before buying my 77mm Limited. That said, it has arrived, day after ordering, and I have to say it looks beautiful, even if it is silver on a black bodied camera. After all, it's the images that the camera/lens produces that counts. I might go for a 43mm and 31mm from US when my credit card is out of intensive care. FWIW I do have a European wide warranty with the UK version which helps as I live in Spain, just visiting UK at the moment.

Regards,

Has anyone in UK bought new from the states recently. If so, what was the VAT/duty liability? Was it still worth buying from US rather than UK or Europe?

The 77 limited is certainly a fine lens but IMHO the 100mm Macro is more versatile in its capabilities but heavier of course. You will still have exactly the same gap (excuse to buy another lens) as you have now. Even the 77 limited would not really fill that gap. My recommendation would be a good zoom to cover the range as there really isn't anything available between 50 & 77mm. The 50 - 200mm DA gets good reports from users here.

Yes I've seen the pics Alan. . . and it still looks like a bargain to me. I'd buy it myself if I didn't have two D's with grips already.

The inclusion of the 18-35mm FAJ lens might indicate that this is an early example of the *istD which in turn could mean that it's well used. I've figured out from his previous sales that he is a plumber by trade and a guitarist in a band . . . if that means anything at all.

After a bargain *istD? This is not mine, but it does look good. Includes a grip too.

If you read a post from today "Bargain *istD + lenses + grip = £350" under "digital photography" in this forum you can see that there's a person selling a camera & he may be a plumber and a guitarist in a band, add name, phone info etc. and keeping in mind that posts in a forum live on the internet for years and years and you end up perhaps giving too much information to the world. Would you like the world to know your name, address, phone number and occupation, for example. I myself think PM (private messages) within a forum is probably a better way to go to provide people with more personal/specific info.
I guess that demonstrates how easy it is to gather information if you are prepared to look. I provided that information only because I research buyers & sellers to hopefully prevent myself becoming a victim of fraud. I thought it would help. The information was actually provided by the seller himself in his previous auctions. Some, all, or none of it may be true.

I have no objection to that information being removed if the moderators deem it sensible or necessary.

I use (rarely) Eclipse solution and lint free pads on a swab. Cheap, simple, works for me. A little practice is required to produce a smear free result though. The glass cover over the sensor is much tougher than some people (including Pentax) would have you believe.

I had one camera where dust had got between the sensor and its glass cover. The only solution to this was to send it away for cleaning which was done for free as the dust could only have got there during manufacture. Unless you are feeling very brave and/or can afford to trash your camera, don't try this at home.
