Will,

That behaviour is odd because the manual states that both batteries are checked for state of charge irrespective of the setting you mention. I too have mine set to use the grip battery first. If it does behave as you suggest, that'll do for me.

Time (and more use) will tell.

I'm just wondering what will happen to a K10D + grip + 2 x batteries. Will there be any indication when the first battery is depleted and the second one is put into use?

I hope there will be some indication, it'd be stupid to have 2 batteries and only get the 'camera dead' indicator when both need recharging. I for one would not be best pleased if that's the case.

I have this combination but I'm still on my first charge with no indication as yet that any battery is exhausted. I've taken only 250+ shots, not many I know, but I don't get time to use it much yet 'cause I'm only semi-retired . . . and working harder than ever

The SMC Pentax-FA 50mm 1:1.4 (8 blades) would be ideal.

To be fair, Pixmania are French, so a French manual isn't foreign to them.
That doesn't excuse their rudeness. It might explain it, but not excuse it. Almost every other company like Pixmania (non-UK parent company) that I know of takes the trouble to procure UK-centric items (manuals, mains plugs etc) for sale in UK.

Pixmania are ripping UK customers off by taking advantage of the disparity in tax between buying in France, and selling in UK. It may even be illegal, but I don't want to go down that road.

I don't think you can set an *ist D popup to second (trailing) curtain sync, but you can on the K10D. The OP has both bodies.

Thanks George,

Your right, as usual, there's far too much information in that link for me to comprehend.

Now if only somebody had said MTF( f ) = 100%*C( f )/C(0) I'd have been none the wiser

I do like the term 'spacial frequency response' better though, I almost understand what that means.

And I thought all I had to do was press the shutter release . . .

Thanks guys, I'll give it a go but . . . now I have another question . . .

Which Pentax lenses provide the info for the camera to choose the right settings?

Regards,

Thanks again Mongoose, I'm getting the picture. No pun intended . . . but it is topical

No use for older lenses then?

Cheers,

Thanks Mongoose,

but in terms of Pentax DSLR's and Pentax lenses . . . what does it mean?
What are the benefits of using this setting, and what camera/lens capabilities does it use that other modes don't use?

In a nutshell, when & why should we use it?

Anybody know, I mean really know?
