I may bite on a K-s1 soon, but if I grit my teeth perhaps I can holdout for the first K-mount with on-chip pdaf. I suspect Pentax engineers might think of offbeat uses for that like they did to track stars with SR just an odd hunch!

I just won a bid for a K-5 IIs with the KatzEye screen swapped in. Now instead of peaking I have a Fresnel/split-prism viewfinder, like the good old days For a few extra dollars/pound/euro it can really change the equation... not that such a screen won't fit on a K-3 as well of course

Updates are minimal between 30 and 50, body shape and perhaps EyeFi card compatibility? Your K30 is still a great camera and a neat design!

Sadly you nailed it. Many saw the initial rumours and read 'entry level', and despite later specs and rewordings they still speak of it as a base-level camera. It's just different, and it's Ricoh making the call. Sure it took a few engineers away from other products, but it's just a new look for a camera - incidentally, with the K-3 specs I like most.

It feels like many outspoken early forum critics will actually be disappointed if this becomes a big hit for R-Pentax!

A lifelong Oregonian here with deep Irish family roots. Also a longtime Pentax user, since 1980 more or less. Now using the IIs and a bag of manual primes: smc17 fisheye, smcA 24 and 50macro, Taks 105 and 300 and smcM 200. A couple of modern and some older AF types around here as well.

I am in the process of moving a whole 50 miles downstream to Longview in Washington state. I thought I had joined here a year or three back but could not recall doing so with certainty - so here I am, again?

Bump for a fine lens, now one of my few AF lenses as it can do so much and do it well. Even 1:2.5ish closeups!
