Call me daft if I am but I just have to ask this ?

I have been shooting in RAW for ages now and never hardly use JPEG, but as I was just playing with my new flash gun I was using jpegs. I have just noticed I can open up a jpeg in CS3 in Adobe RAW and convert it just like a regular RAW file and save as a TIFF.

? is what is the down side of doing this if any, I am sure there must be?
Because when I go away on my long trip I can take jpegs instead of RAW and save a whole lot of storage problems and just convert to TIFFs the ones I want.

Comments and correct me please

Oh thanks Matt, nice to hear you have been delving into P-TTL! but can you confirm please when you say 'rear curtain' is that the same as the 'slow trailing curtain sync' on K10D?

I have been playing too, probably the same time as you! and found I am eventually getting better results at last! Seems very similar to your excellant notes.

I have done this shot with
P-TTL mode
in AV mode
ceiling bounce in kitchen
wee plastic thingy pulled out
and gave it one stop more in exposure compensation on camera (which the flash seems to take into account)
on 200iso

Next question!

I seem to be getting inconsistant results with the P-TTL flash mode setting, sometime well lit, then very underexposed, I have iso set to 100 and on green auto button.
When I set up the A mode setting on flash, though more fiddly, I had correct well lit results.
I thought my K10D was going to be fully compatible with P-TTL on this flash gun and to make life easy?
I have noticed my Firmware is still at 1.11, would that make any difference?
Any suggestions gratefully received

I dont understand, I took it off and started again and it has fired! Is there an issue with bad connection on hot shoe?
Can you also tell me about the OFF & ON button on flash gun, when swirtching it on does one go half way to the right or all the way over to right, I dont understand why there is a middle setting between OFF & ON?

HELP please! Well my AF-360FGZ arrived today and I am up at 1am very unhappy! I dont know what I am doing wrong but I cant seem to get the flash gun to fire when it is on my K10D. The test button works OK when charged, what settings should the K10D be on to use flash?

They seem over sharpened to me and a bit too contrasty.
