GREAT use of colour in the first one. I like it very much.

I like my Pentax F 50mm/f1.7 and my SMC Takumar 55mm/f1.8, it would be really interesting see how all three compare. Why dont all of us who have a 50 or 55 do a portrait wide open using roughly the same framing as yours? No science, just a purely subjective test of bokeh and the rest. Any takers?

I like number 1 a lot, I prefer it to the BW version.
I use my two SMC M 1.7 50mm lenses all the time (one permanently attached to extension tubes). looks like it's time to invest in a more modern variant.

Fired many shots. Didn't kill anything.

I like the strawberry shot - nice composition! If I could change anything it would be the paper plate, but I know from experience that you have to work with what you're given at these sorts of events so I can excuse it.
Does make my mouth water though and that's never a bad thing with food photography!

Hurriedly taken F 50mm 1.4 and FA* 77mm pics posted to gallery. More will follow, but I can't upload to here at present, and I don't think the powers that be would appreciate me setting up too many bogus accounts in order to circumvent the one a day restriction.I like my Pentax F 50mm/f1.7 and my SMC Takumar 55mm/f1.8, it would be really interesting see how all three compare. Fortunately there is a bug in the software which means the T&Cs don't display. I am therefore unaware of having broken any rules!

I much prefer Andy in colour
No. 2 - excellent.
I find the items of text (varying in degrees of out of focus) a distraction in No. 3, but would agree that some text is needed.

Lilly - much prefer the colour portrait That's great stuff!
Gartmore,
They are definitely different. The f/1.7 has 6 aperture blades - it produces very sharp results when stopped down a touch. However, the f/1.4 is IMHO more pleasing for portraiture. The 8 blades make for lovely bokeh and rendering. However, I'm not sure if the field is as flat as the f/1.7... so I kept the f/1.7 for copy work, but the f/1.4 is the one for portraiture (and flowers too shot around f/2.2 - gorgeous!).

I have the SMC-F 50/1.7, SMC-F 50/1.4 & SMC-FA 50/1.4 (optically same as SMC-F). SMC-F going to a new home though...I like my Pentax F 50mm/f1.7
