Hi,

the DOF switch is the (at least on the DL) the little lever around the shutter release button. Turn it clock wise and you'll see the image go darker in the viewfinder, along with hearing the lens stop down. Have a look at the top LCD panel while doing this and it will tell you the correct speed for the aperture youi have chosen.

Cheers

Hi Ken, and welcome to the boards.

On the lens, set the aperture ring to "A", and the MF/AF switch to the right of the lens (when looking at the front) to MF.

There are other settings in the menu, but I'm at work, and this version of Acrobat is frankly rubbish, so I couldn't open the pdf file for the manual online..

I'm sure someone will know, otherwise I'll continue this at home in a couple of hours.

Cheers

Hi Ted,

definitely check the voltage first. I don't know which Norman model you have but at least one model kicks out 100V, and all the ones listed here..

will be either unsuitable or perhaps? risky at best. Whether it lists the most modern or not, I don't know though. If in any doubt, get a synch-safe connector to be sure.

The good thing about that is that it's pretty much as big as will ever be needed, for any practical situation. IIRC, the human eye is, comparatively, 128mp. Any more detail etc, couldn't be resolved by the eye, similar to having a 1000 fps video; utterly pointless for normal viewing.

If they could knock it down in physical size to say 25x17mm, sell it for £50 as an exchange unit for Pentax DSLRs, then that's job done.

Hi all,

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PENTAX-WITH-FLASH_W0QQitemZ7626793797QQcategoryZ15240QQrdZ...

just saw this.. looks like an ME of some sort with (dodgy eyesight notwithstanding) a 1:1.7 50mm. Cheap price for a lens whether the body works or not.

20 minutes to go.. and no, it's nothing to do with me.

Hi,

just thought I'd let you know that now I've fitted the card (it arrived yesterday, everything now works, and setting up wyziwig was a lot easier. The various programs I use tend to seem faster at rendering images.. sharpening in GIMP for instance. £30 well spent.

Hi, and thanks for the advice..

I've bought the Ati 9250, but the 256mb version.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8823258338

Just in case Tetris bring out a more graphics intensive version..

It's the same spec except for the extra 128mb, a bit of future proofing, for a tenner more. Hopefully I'll have it my grubby little mitts by Wednesday, and should have it fitted by Christmas, or an hour after it arrives.. one or the other.

While I'm at it, if you need to find out any specs for your machine, you can use Belarc (which I've used for years), ASTRA32 or Aida32 which I used to use, and will give you far more info than you're ever likely to need, I seem to remember.

Obviously, this is me, so you know that they're freebies..

Hi all,

My PC has been crashing regularly for the last few days. It looks as though the onboard graphics chipset is about to go to the great silicon heaven.

I know I can pick up a new card for £20 that'll do the job, but as I'm putting in a new one anyway, is there any that you can recommend that render colour/contrast etc better than a general use card. It doesn't need loads of onboard memory for games (unless the odd game of tetris is going to work it too hard).

For instance, the following..

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-Boxed-ATI-Radeon-9250-128Mb-AGP-Graphics-DVI-TV-Out_W0...

and

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Nvidia-GeForce-FX5200-128MB-AGP8x-Graphics-Card-TV-out_W0Q...

both come in at under £30, are brand named, and look as though either will do the job. Just thought I'd ask before buying (or before the chip has a complete meltdown.

Cheers

Hi all,

as a medium length prime, I'm sure it has it's place, but if you want a longer zoom lens, then this is the one..

Hi,
while invetigating the couple of current threads on batteries, I came across these sites..

http://www.epanorama.net/links/psu_battery.html

http://www.ee.ttu.edu/lab/robot/psupply.htm

http://www.dansdata.com/cambattery.htm

http://home.howstuffworks.com/battery.htm

http://electrochem.cwru.edu/ed/encycl/art-b02-batt-nonr.htm

Far more info than you are ever likely to need, but definitely some useful stuff in there.
