one of the girls at work liked a few of my autumn pictures.. (I posted a couple earlier in the week) and asked if she could have a copy of 5 different ones for her living room wall.. I've made it.. yay..
After trying out a print or two at work on one of the colour laserjets, while I was out, she eventually ordered a 10x8 print of each from Bonus Print online. They turned up next day and were stunning. Printed on Kodak glossy paper, colours were just right, not too saturated, or too dull, and well.. I'm going through my photos this weekend to sort out some for printing. I've never really got around to it before, and home printing never really did for me.
The price for the above, £1.10 per print and £1.50 postage in lots of stiff card. I thought about the cost, and if I were still using film, that's very cheap considering it would cost more for a roll of film and D&P at 6x4, only to find a couple of really good ones afterwards, if I was lucky.
Once I've received the ones I'm going to get printed, and if they're as good as the others, I'll be putting a link in the recommended suppliers sticky. I'll make sure it wasn't a one off first though.
Basically they really did make me think I had some potential as a photographer after all. :roflmao: I think a quid a print towards an ego boost is definitely worth the money.
Off to take some more now.. some where, haven't made my mind up where yet.
Cheers

Another advantage of using the longer lens(es) is that you can use your big sturdy tripod off the edge of the table instead of the tiny, tippy table-top tripods close up.
re: the table top tripods, reminded me of a thread I posted back at the beginning of the year..

As we've gained a lot more membership since then I thought it might be worth another showing..

I had an email from my site asking where WIZIWYG can be found. It seems that either Praxisoft have gone bust or been bought out. Most (third party) download sites had it as a direct download from the Praxisoft site. I have however found this link..
http://www.obs-vlfr.fr/LOV/ZooPart/ZooScan/article.php3?id_article=47
who have it on their own server, if anyone needs a copy.
I've verified the MD5 checksum (9ce509a92465ecccd5b4822ffcc7a311) and they are the same, so it's a safe download.

I can add a bit more detail to the above post.. I still don't have a working machine at home, hence the lack of it.
This is the code for index.shtml your home page.
<div id="left" style="background: url(projectorhomegsmasked.jpg)">
</div>
<div id="content">
<div id="title"><span class="maintitle1">Welcome to </span><span class="maintitle2">Pencil of Light</span></div>
<!-- Page Content Starts Here -->
<!-- Page Content Ends Here -->
</div>
That's the entire code for each page file.. apart from one invisible line of code (the browser doesn't display it, but it's there) that calls up a header and a footer file.. that's everything before and after the code above. This means that all styling is contained in one file, header.htm. It saves having external css sheets, which is the bit of code that governs the layout and styling of the site. This means that if for instance you liked the basic layout of this draft, but wanted the banner colour bright red, then you look for this bit of code in the header.htm file..
#head {
position:absolute;
margin:0;
top:0;
left:0;
display:block;
width:100%;
height:100px;
background: #000000;
background-position:0 0;
background-repeat:no-repeat;
font-size:4em; z-index:5;
overflow:hidden;
color:#fff;
}
<div id="left" style="background: url(projectorhomegsmasked.jpg)">
<td>
<a href="newpage.shtml">New Page</a>
</td>
On the plus side re: my computer.. it wasn't the hard drive after all, but either the processor or Mobo, so I haven't lost a thing, even though I have backups, they're out of date.
I'm rambling now. That's what happens when I don't have constant access to a PC. Sad eh!!

I got most of it done.. before my hard drive crashed and burned last night. I'll only be around intermittently until I get it sorted out(posting from work), but this is what I've come up with so far.

It's basically a working site as you look at it. I've kept it in a similar vein to your original design.. I guess you wanted it to look like that anyway. I was working on the last couple of graphics when my PC dies so the last couple of pages haven't been done yet, but you get the idea.

and if you think you can handle it..

It's a work in progress at the moment, but I'm hoping to turn it into a serious but fun learning tool for children and their parents to do together. I've got young neices and nephews that should find it useful. There are other categories to be finalised.. colour, shapes etc. but that's the basics.. oops, X factor's back on.. gotta run.

yep.. if you'd turned up at TechSupportForum whilst I was still active there, I'd have talked you through setting up a site, but the basic templates are easy enough to do. I'll knock something up in the morning, and put it up on my site for you to have a look at. It will be a template, so you'll eventually have to put in the detail as you update it, but I'll happily get you to that stage. I might even learn something myself.. and I'll get to do some coding again. I've been too busy to much to my own site so it might give me a kick up the backside to do some work there as well.
An example of one of my pages.. nothing to do with photography but fun anyway.. I did all the graphics from scratch and a chap on another forum customised the script for me.. see if you can spell the words by dragging the tiles across.
