I have two questions:
1. Can I use my miranda 700 CD multi dedicated fash gunhttp://www.mirandacamera.com/_service/_inst_books/_700CD_flash/700CD_flash.htm on it.
It's all down to trigger voltages, and whether they'll fry the camera firstly. The list we tend to follow here is this one..
http://www.botzilla.com/photo/strobeVolts.html
It doesn't list yours, but does list three Miranda flashes. I'm guessing taht the630 CD is the closest to the 700 BUT, the best thing to do is to check the trigger voltage yourself, instructions on how to do this are just before the list gets going.
If it does fall within reasonable levels for the DS (Daniel, George any idea what that is.. I seem to remember about 30V max???), and I'd wait for confirmation, then it's how much compatibility there is between body and gun. You'll get (almost certainly) full manual, it just depends on the communication up to the gun, whether you'll get any other modes available.
Hope that helps,
Cheers

mainly a mixture of luck and dumb chance.. I exposed for the lighter parts of the picture which kept everything quite dark, along with -0.5 ev and then pulled up the brightness in PP. It so happened that there was still colour in all but the centre of the sun. As I was more interested in showing Mrs Liam how to use her camera, I wasn't really trying that hard for myself, and as I say.. I got lucky.

I've just bought Mrs Liam a DL, so she can learn photography.. sadly that'll mainly be by my teaching.. she will be joining us here soon though, so she'll get proper advice as well.. I took her over to Windsor Great Park for a practice.. and as she hasn't joined yet, I thought I'd show you a couple of mine instead.

although it was a proper camera.. ist* DL..
thanks for the coments though.. that time of evening, I didn't have any choice but to have headlights etc, and to crop out the car park would have taken away the setting.. I think.

long time no see an' all that..
Thought I'd put one up from my skiing trip to Glenshee last month.. so here it is. It's from the car park. I took some further up with a little P&S, but good skier though I am, I'm not good enough to risk the camera on the slopes in a backpack.
I just find my eyes wandering around finding stuff in it, hence liking what is really just a snapshot.
Hope you like..

and thanks for any names that went on the petition.. As some of you go under pseudonyms, I don't know everyone.. but thanks anyway.
It's not the fault of the NHS, but the political will behind it. I'm not turning this into a political post though..

I know it's not much, and it may well not come about in time for Joan, but it may help someone else being denied treatment in the future.
That's about it really. If there's somewhere else you can post the link, a blog, or another forum, I'd be doubly grateful.
Cheers

are you sure she hasn't been raiding your single malts?
Seriously though, something everybody may find useful in the coming days; is that when people have had a few, their pupils will react far more slowly to bright light. This means that all the merry people will be far more prone to red eye (and red nose??? ), and those on soft drinks will be far less likely to. So if any of you intend to take party photos of drunk relatives, get them admiring the tree or someone's presents, so they don't look directly into the lens. Bounce will help, but not as much if they're totally gone.
Cheers
