Got a HUDL from Tesco, basically a freebie using sixty quid's worth of vouchers.

Runs Jellybean 4.2, I have already downloaded a few photo apps such as the Epheremis, DOF calculator and another one to generate thumbnails from RAW

You cannot just plug a card reader in,need a micro USB to female USB lead plus the Nexus import media app, this applies to any Android tablet as far as I can tell.

Although this tablet only has 16gb memory you can plug in a micro SD card adding a max of another 32GB. Another useful feature is a micro HDMI socket so you can connect to a TV or monitor with the appropriate lead

Screen seems very good and hardly any difference when compared with my daughters Nexus 7 (MK1)

Embedded Tesco apps are not invasive, so unusually for me quite impressed with a product from Tesco especially given the price and still very good for the RRP of 120 quid

Useable ISO is what you need to look at, not just how high it can potentially go

Not dissimilar to the guitar amp in Spinal Tap going up to 11 rather than the usual 10

Can't imagine anyone is surprised that 24mp crammed onto a crop sensor would give worse high iso results than 16mp

Seeing as Imaging Resource is being quoted have a look at the comparison of the Canon 6D and Pentax K-3 still life or new indoor at 51200 link and link How can you doubt that FF would be an advantage for some forms of photography

I can understand brand loyalty, but gets to a point when it's just plain denial. Sorry if that upsets some people, but it was the question posed by the OP

Has anyone actually tried a good FF camera and compared real world images against a crop sensor?

Not necessarily in a technical way, but looked at them both to decide which they prefer

Test charts are fine for advertising and reviews, but not really much help to assess everyday use

Not necessarily expensive and for landscape photography in particular I think most people will agree FF is the preferred choice over a crop sensor

Simple analogy to me is that I support a football team and always think of them as number one in my eyes. On occasions though I have had to admit they were beaten by a better side or applauded a great goal from the opposition

I have used and owned more than one make of DSLR (full and crop sensor) ranging from 6mp Pentax K100D right up to just under 22mp FF.

Regardless of any brand bias I can honestly say the cleanest and nicest images at base ISO came from a 12mp FF Canon 5D

I also think that 24mp is pushing it on a crop sensor and should Pentax release a FF (which would seriously interest me) they should not go down the 36mp route of Nikon or Sony

Cannot really say that Pentax are bad for sports when they do not have either the pro series cameras or lenses to do a straight comparison with other makes.

One point from earlier that I don't understand
Quote:
On the Pentax changing the focussing method to do that is quite simple in the menu system. What a faff to do something similar on the Canon!
Having used both makes utilising back button focusing I am unable to see why it is much more awkward on the Canon. Menu, custom function and pick the option you want, must take all of about ten seconds or less

Fair enough preferring one brand, but that is being biased for the sake of it and clearly incorrect
