actually, can anyone with calipers assist with this.

on the Sigma, could you measure where the mount ring actually goes?

AND

measure the bit behind it, where the top clear plastic fnumber range opening is, that's thinner, maybe 81mm? which would be ideal. line with felt and it's bob on

from what I can see it is approximately 85mm in diameter so quite a few of the chinese knocks for canon won't work because they have an inner diameter of 81mm

could I cheat and use an 81mm ring. get a longer screw and then line it with felt for a firm grip?

anyone done this?

does such a beast exist as a third party tripod collar that can fit the sigma 50-500?

there's nothing wrong with mine but it does stick out a bit and is a pain to fit in a bag I have. If I could get a collar with a shorter neck out of the bottom tripod mount that would be jake.

A 100-400mm would be great and it does look as if something is planned. There is the 560mm of course, and that is coming down in price a bit.

A wide zoom is also indicated. No doubt they are all at some stage of preparation, perhaps they'll be bombarding us with new lenses this year and next.
blooming well hope so. I'm holding off buying a wide zoom. at the moment sigma 8-16, pentax 12-24 are the leaders but if pentax do a 12-35 then that is where my pennies go because that reach makes it perfect for landscape, architecture and general walk around for me.

a pentax 100-400 would be awesome. we can but hope.

am I right that the latest roadmap showed something perhaps 100-400 as a coming lens for Pentax?

because if not there is surely a gap and sigma have the field to themselves. Tokina haven't made the 80-400 in a pentax mount for years and Pentax's own range of lenses only go up to 300, so unless you want to run the TC + lens combo, you have no other choice than Sigma for a telephoto at the long end.

also, slight divergence, doesn't the roadmap also show some kind of wide zoom, maybe 10/12 - 35?

Ah ok, cool. I didn't know they fitted in the grip. Will still be nice to get a spare though. I'll contact srs tomorrow

I was faced with this dilemma and was deciding between the K5 or K30 as a upgrade from my Kx and ultimately I plumped for the K30.

My reasoning was that I was getting the K5 sensor in a smaller body with a newer Auto focus engine, focus peaking on the LCD and it was still weather sealed.

I didn't see the point in paying the extra for the K5 in that instance.

is it possible to get some spares for the K3?

in this instance, the rubber gromit from underneath where the grip plugs in. and the plastic cover that goes over the grip pins?

I haven't lost any yet, but thought it might be an idea to source a spare or two just in case. definitely something I want to leave prone to damage if left uncovered.
