reading threads it does seem good. I'm just in a position where I'm debating the weight of the sigma. I like to shoot handheld a lot so the fact the Tokina is just over half the weight of the Sigma is attractive.

then again, is it just my hand holding technique not very good, already I've figured I should hold it differently next year and that might assist, not only fatigue but getting steadier shots.

Anyone have this combination care to chime in .

I have a Sigma bigma 50 500 but I'm intrigued by the Tokina. I know it's rarely seen for sale but it is talked of a lot as a sterling lens, but of course it's getting old now.

Does it still measure up? How does it compare to the Sigma 120-400? or even what about the older sigma 135 400?

I like the weight aspect as the Tokina is a lot lighter and I'm primarily a hand held shooter. I can cope with the Bigma but by the end of the day it can get tiring.

Alternatively, isn't there a Pentax on the roadmap 100-400 due?

it is great. the low light performance is fantastic. I'm also jonesing over the speed of the autofocus even in rubbish lighting conditions. This will be much better with sports and fast moving objects.

well after a week with my K3, this is one monstrously great piece of hardware.

Loving the new menu features, getting used to changing focus the new way, love the lock on the mode selection (which the K30 didn't have) and I'm really enjoying the grip.

I'm a bit miffed that my k30 batteries don't fit. Especially after I read a number of times that they would. Extra batteries are on the way. Also some 64GB SD cards. While I like Sandisk, I've got 45mb/s integral cards coming. I've used them for years and never had an issue with them.

Can't wait for airshow season and seeing what this baby can do. In the meantime, bit of birding and a falconry centre near by are going to get a visit

Photos of the camera and box. you will note the leads are still in their bags. Camera has 8443 actuations altogether. There is one mark on the base around the tripod mount socket as you can see in the last photo. Does not detract from a great camera.

yeah, that was a typo on my part. I meant the K5 sensor.

a few days on and I am getting more used to it. awesome camera. I like the way to change AF mode. that's good. lot of neat features and I'm very impressed with the cameras low light performance so far.
