Richard,

The cropped DA*60-250 shot looks a tad better to me than the Sigma, which is very impressive. Even if you think there is little or no difference it is impressive!

The bird shots also show the excellence of the DA*60-250!

Cheers,
Lance

Wish they would say what these updates are for though.
Yes, this would be helpful!

Apparently, there is a new silent firmware for the K-7:

Previous firmware is v1.02.00.14 (MD5 4d287f4588cae9bbd14df144407e143d)

New firmware is v1.02.00.16 (MD5 is 0e397e6c1b444b779e6a2c76396eaa86)

Upgrades unknown.

Lance, you're a cheapskate!

I agree that the K-x has some minor but very important feature ommissions, the most significant for me would be lens AF adjustments. I'm waiting to see what Pentax annouce next in the APS DSLR department.
Agreed about the AF lens adjustment. It will be interesting what Pentax has in their next APSC DSLR.

Hope you had a great Christmas. Did Santa bring you any new goodies?
Nothing much as we had aircon installed and it cost a bomb!!

I hope you both had a great Christmas as well, mate.

Hi Lance.

Raiding your lens cupboard would easily cover the cost of my air fare! Hmmm...
Definitely.

I tried a K-x in direct comparison with the K-7 a couple of weeks back, it certainly produces great low noise images and is easy to use. I wonder how long it will be before you get one to complement your K-7?
For a beginner, the K-x is a fantastic camera and I cannot get over how well it handles and how easy it is to operate. Even for the advanced amateur, it is able to give fantastic results as is only hampered by a few minor controls that are missing compared to the K-7.

I doubt I will get one as a back up - as I can just borrow my daughter's!!

Wow. What a fantastic little camera!!

For a beginner, like my daughter, it really is a great camera. Easy to use, almost like a P&S, and the results are amazing to say the least. The ease of use, small size and lightweight are just perfect for her and even I found it great to use.

When we went to have a look at it at JB HiFi (a large music, movie, electronics chain in Australia), even the young sales assistant was waxing lyrical about the better build quality than the similar priced Canon's and Nikon's and how impressed he was with it.

I cannot recommend it highly enough for a beginner to a DSLR or even as a second camera for the more experienced.

Now all I've got to do is keep a close watch on my lenses!

Anyway, congrats on the 2 new lenses.
