It was one of those mornings that just produced fantastic photos. If you've never been, and you can save up for it, I can highly recommend a trip to NZ. It's the most amazing place I've ever been.

Thanks. I hadn't realised that. So the 18-35 is an older design? As I don't have an 'analogue' camera which is capable of making use of the lens (my film cameras are ME-Supers) then that probably won't make much difference which I keep in that respect. It's going to come down to a few tests and personal taste isn't it?

I'm clearing out my gear and I have two different kit lenses. The 18-35mm that came with my *ist DS and the 18-55mm that came with my K10D. I'll probably do some side by side tests to pick which, but does anyone have any particular opinions as to which would be best to keep? I can't seem to find any decent data about the 18-35 in the net.

I'm sure it will be worth the wait. I got a Sigma 10-20mm just before Xmas and it was excellent to use on the landscapes on holiday.

Thanks John. As you say, my pictures only ever get to about A3 at the largest .... except for when I'm gum printing, but that's a completely different story! I'll let you know how all my lenses fare on the new camera.

George - It's interesting that you say the A era primes are best. Were they much better than the M era ones?

The one point I'd like to make is the difference in cost. I could go onto ebay any day and pick up a decent kit of manual prime lenses (perhaps minus a decent wide angle ... and for that I have my kit lens) for less than the price of one autofocus modern prime. It will be interesting to see how they all fare on the K10D as I have never been disappointed with their performance on the istDS ... but then I've never had access to any expensive modern lenses!! Do you think the difference in quality justifies the difference in cost? For an amateur like me I can have loads of fun with all these old lenses and really not be taking too much of a 'price risk'.

Would anyone be interested in seeing some shots once I get the camera?
