Hello forum,
I've fallen in love with a Zeiss Otus 55mm 1.4 full-frame. It comes with either Canon or Nikon mount.
Does anyone here have any experience with using an adoptor from Nikon mount to Pentax mount with a Pentax K1 camera?
Does an adaptor mean that aperture will function automatically?
And, lastly, will the adaptor affect the focal length and/or the minimum focusing distance (49cm)?

But I think the minimum focus distance will be a problem for this project. I'll try and see if I can borrow one or demo one before buying. But my current thought it that it would be better to stick to full-frame.
What are your impressions of the 645D?

I've given it some thought over the weekend and done some research. I'm considering skipping the K1 and moving to the 645D instead.

Clever people,
Having got some very good feedback in this thread I did some thinking after seeing the used price of a 645D, which would be a more long-term investment.
Which of lenses specifically for the medium format would do great for macro photography of vacuum tubes, which is going to be a project for the next couple of years documenting adn archiving for Radiumuseum and Wikipedia.
Something that would work for portraits too would be nice.

I would have thought the full-frame lens would be more expensive than my current 35mm.

I have a K-1 and the HD version of the DA 1:2.8 35mm Macro Limited lens. A fantastic lens I used on my K-50 till that camera broke. I've just tried it on the K-1 in 'Full Frame' mode at the minimum focus distance, it works fine, there is some vignetting but aside from that is works well.
Attached is the image I took, partof your post, handheld at f5.6, I expect the degree of vignetting will vary with the f stop used.
Of course in 'Crop' mode there will be no vignetting.

I currently use a Pentax K-5 and the Pentax SMC DA 35mm f/2.8 lens for a documentation and archival project for Wikipedia and a archival site called Radiomuseum on audio vacuum tubes.
The K-5 is in pretty bad shape, so I'm planning an upgrade to full frame. E.g. the Pentax K-1. Will the macro objective work fully on a full-frame camera? The minimum focus distance is around 14 centimeters on the K-5. Will that change if mounted on a K-1?

I doubt though that it would provide for auto focus or auto anything for that matter so you might well have to be satisfied with manual operations only. Still, at least you should (I think) get to use the Zeiss Otis on the K1. Me thinks you will need to do some research though!

Ideally someone in this forum had first-hand experiences with this lens - or something quite a similar. But I guess it's a rare combination - and chosing a 'native-format' lens is best practice, I guess.
