Cheers. I'll get back to the folks who did the servicing. Thought I'd just hear what you guys had to say first.

Myself, I've shot hundreds of rolls on an ME Super, but never seen fogging like this. Those are solid little cameras. Seals clearly. That shutter thing is new to me too.

I'll see what the servicing folk have to say. I should also get the negs from the first roll she shot after it was serviced - was there a problem which has since got worse? Or have the seals only just perished? Or somehow got damaged..?

Ho hum.

My daughter's, just come back from a holiday with 5 rolls of film, some with bits of fogging, and some with looks like a shutter jam problem.

Fogging is clearly visible on frames 10/11/12 and on 13 and 14 in a different place, then back to the first place in 15! She confirms my guess that the level of fog is proportional to the time between shots, suggesting a camera light leak.

On the Kodak roll at bottom the shutter appears to be slightly in the way on frames 2 3 and 5.

I only recently had the thing serviced! Any ideas...?

She's not had this problem before. Perhaps significantly, she's always used a motorwind, but took it off during the holiday.

Thanks.

That's exactly the branch where I had my unhappy incident!

Still, that was 10 years ago, and things have probably changed. So if no-one comes up with a better suggestion...

Try running a Film through the camera and looking at the results.

Modern ISO400 film isn't too fussy if the metering is slightly out, and if you can live with it it'll save you £50+.
And possibly waste a whole roll..? Plus processing? And the effort? No no no.

Of course I could always dig out my trusty Weston V to check readings! Which I'll probably do at first anyway.

Fact is, I'm sure the lubricants could do with refreshing. And I want to experiment with HDR by scanning the neg at different lights to capture what's in the heel and toe of the curve, in which case all exposures need to be spot on.

Hmm...

Last time I used Snappy Snaps I looked in the bag and my negs weren't there. The guy searched everywhere. Eventually I saw something lying on the floor in the corner. "could that be my negs down there?" Indeed they were. No apology nor concern...

Last time I used Boots there was dust fluff and hair stuck on the emulsion!

Never again.

I used to use Sky. Sadly gone now. And I have horror stories concerning Boots and Snappy Snaps.

Can anyone recommend a lab in London that does a good job and treats your pics with the appropriate care..?

Fantastic!

Asahi quotes £65, while Harrow quote £56.50. The guy in Harrow says I get a 15% discount if I'm a member of the Pentax Users' Club. Does that involve more than just registering here...?

Actually I have two ME Supers - so any savings are doubled.

The second is my daughter's - there's a real revival of interest among teens in these 'retro' cameras!

The last time I used my ME Super I was sure the meter was out. That was a decade ago! I'd like to use the camera again.

So I reckon I should get it serviced. But what needs doing? The meter re-calibrating? The lubricants refreshed?

And does anyone know of a good place to get this done in London without breaking the bank...?

Cheers!
