You should, IMHO, add the Eizo Flexscan S2243W - 22" to your list, which uses a PVA screen, covers 95% of the RGB colour space and has a 10-bit LUT (which requires a graphics card with 10-bit capability to obtain benefit e.g. AMD (Radeon) FirePro series; s/h examples of which can be bought for little cash on e-bay): link. Colourconfidence are selling them for £388.00 inc VAT, which is par for the course, and are including a free GrafiLite daylight balanced viewing lamp. For an extra £99.00 you can have a bundle that includes a GREGTAGMACBETH eye-one display 2 calibration device, representing a good saving when compared with the price when bought separately link

I paid the premium for an Eizo monitor about 5 years ago and have never regretted it and I'm seriously considering upgrading to one with a larger screen in the near future.

I know John Riley is a big fan of the Dell Ultra-sharp range and he speaks from personal experience. There are many reports (from both professional reviewers and users, however, indicating that QC can be an issue with these; although in fairness many went on to say that Dell were very good at replacing them when notified.

You pays your money and takes your choice

Best wishes,

Jon
You got any expereience of the little calibration widget that comes with the Eizo? Is it in any way useful? I know it's not an Eye One solution but It may do to be going on with, if it gets me near enough I'd be happy...

Could well be one on it's way to me too...
All the time I've been thinking that I must go bigger, Bigger is not always better and this 22" looks brilliant I must say. I had put Eizo out of my mind totally thiking I'd never own one:arrow:

Your riight! Jon and Stefan, when you start off with a plan you shoud try to see it through! So I'll look at the Eizo too John, it sounds good as it will have the deep blacks that Stefan mentioned but my budget now has to hover around the £500 mark...Gulp

Oh now John you little Monkey! Youv'e got me going now!
How do you set your monitor up then?
And I don't think you look like a Monkey or anything...
Like I say if I can get away with spending a hundred less on a screen and a new profiling puck I'll be a right happy little Sand Boy...

"My workflow is also all sRGB although I shoot RAW. I use sRGB because all the printing firms I use use are calibrated to sRGB. That makes it pointless to have anything that goes beyond that at the moment."

Hmm, Although I'm not sure I'd get away with selling prints from Lake district Galleries in sRGB, or would I?
Best stick to me original plan and go for the Adobe RGB, Doesn't appear that there's anything below 24"?

Yes, both Sue and I use the Dell 2209WA. It has the same relaxing look as the expensive NEC monitors, but at a fraction of the price.

My workflow is sRGB from start to finish and it works well.
Ah your all sRGB? Jpegs then?

Aye, the e-IPS 2209WA is very good value for money but it is 100% sRGB only. I think he is looking for an AdobeRGB screen.

Depends what you want it for.
Indeed I am although I see people like our own John Riley seem to manage perfectly well without Adobe RGB (I think he uses the 2209)?
If I could make an S-ips or even an E-ips match my print output via an X-rite I1D2 or such then I'd be happy! looking for comments from people that Print their own stuff that are ahppy with the likes of the Dell 2209WA and U2311H etc to name a couple. If your getting good enough/accurate colour to print your work for sale or display then I'd go the route of the cheaper Monitor with the decent calibrator. As it is if I buy the Asus Pro Art, or Dell U2410, HP LP 2475W, I'll have no cash left for a decent calibration device save for my Spyder II which I now believe isn't up to snuff here?
