Thanks mike,
It may be for the best but it doesn't feel great!
I'll not go far, it's by far the freindliest community of the lot really!
How'd you like the 7D?
The gear will sell and life will go on I guess but I'll always have some pentax around me even if it's only the lenses in me glasses

Problem now is that I'm struggling to concentrate even when I'm Photographing, and usually forget a vital setting or end up with everything shot in Jpeg, or the focus turned off, or shoot a load of Landscapes at F2.8, frustrates the hell out of me! I don't think it's helping my health anymore, which I always felt it did in the past, so it feels like a good time to duck out...

I have been suffering of late with bad arthritis and sciatica, I've had tinnitus for about three years and I'm hardly getting any sleep, all coupled together it's left me very sore fatigued, irritable and tired, Just not fun to be around! I've been struggling to get out into the hills to get my pictures and since I got my second K5 have managed just shy of a thousand shots, Recently I have been diagnosed with a chronic case of Dysthymia (neurotic depression)and basically I'm unable to get out much at all, let alone try and run a Landcape Photography business, In truth I've only picked up the camera once in about two months, and so it's with great regret I must let my Camera gear go, the reality of having to buy food etc bites hard.
K5 like new less than a thousand shots as near to £500 as you can please
Sigma 8-16mm again like new and a superb lens, £325
Pentax 17-70mm F4 SDM again like new £250
and finally my beloved but hardly used 60-250mm SDM, actually only been on the camera three times and again like new, I'd like to see £775 since it cost me a thousand but very near best offer will do,
Will post pics if required but they'll be taken on my Cameraphone so don't expect much!
I'm putting all the gear back in it's boxes, lest I change my mind!
Alas it has to be done...

It was a witticism, alas lost!
I agree it looks the part, we'll have to wait to see if it can fight!
I have a Siggy 8-16 which s also pretty resistant to flare and it's bulbous front element is a lot more extreme than the Samyang 10mm but it looks to be a huge area of less curved glass on the Samyang, as such I'd expect when it does flare it will flare/reflect big time?
The coating had better be good and the optics will have to be stellar to make me even think of parting with my Siggy...
Hope it comes out in Pentax K anyway...
We'll see...

And to be strict it is not that something is taken out (at least based on Nikon D800E example), just another filter in front of sensor reverts what the first filter did (vs splitting light on other plane as well as with conventional model).
We'll see what the camera will be like in real life, but just based on dry facts it may not look like a big upgrade - depends what are Pentax plans regarding release of next model, if this will take them 2+ years then this may not be a big upgrade IMHO, especially to bring new people to Pentax, if the have something else/better to reveal soon then it changes story.
I just wonder if fact that apparently this model is going to use the same sensor as previous K5 (but maybe refreshed?) is because Pentax just can't get new sensors from Sony now (has to wait until Sony and Nikon release their new stuff).
Since the AA filter is bonded to the sensor and will have to be removed, replaced with optical glass? They are made that way and the manufacturing process is pretty automatic I think, therefore we're looking at small runs at extra time/cost to Pentax/Ricoh, hence the extra cost to us but they must have thought it worthwhile to do. I look forward to the K5II in both it's guises and money willing one or other will make it into my arsenal alongside my existing K5 but not instead of
I actually applaud Pentax for not going with the 24 Mpx Sony sensor (Yet!) having owned a Sony A77/Nex7 for a very brief time, I just didn't like it at all, however everyone elses mileage may differ
Not too convinced about the Sensor being the same, just the PRIME engine maybe? As Sony has updated the 16Mpx sensor twice in the last three years Nex 5N was an upgrade and I think thats the one in the K-01 and K30 theres a new one in the new Nex allegedly, I don't think the one in the Pentax K-01 and K30 can do 14 bit though, so that may be the reason, the initial ADAC is on chip, again I think from clouded memory...
Nice to see some refreshing banter on the new bodies and lenses here, as opposed to the American Forum where apparently the sky has fallen in... Again...

Yup replacement came very fast (Lens was supplied by SRS so didn't expect anything else really). Haven't had a chance to play much but from what I could see I still have the same problem with the AF hunting when at 500mm going from min to max focusing distance (not focal length as per my previous post)

Just wondering if it's my K-5 now.

Still a sharp lens at 500mm though.

I've noticed that occasionally with my 60-250, at the long end and the DA* 300 I had too, maybe you should bung that on and see if the same thing happens? It does seem plenty sharp and as I'm never going to buy a 300 F2.8 et al ever again, it may do the trick? For me two KG is still a lot though but an F2.8 would cripple me now I reckon

"Took the new Sigma out for a test the other evening (actually had a little sunshine for a couple of hours) and have to say I am impressed with the sharpness of the lens. Unfortunately it is going back Thursday to be replaced due to a focusing problem (thanks for a painless swap SRS) but overall I am quite impressed with it."

Hi Mike, you get the replacement one yet, very interested in how this turns out...
